As of October 1, 2025, the Rotary family includes 1,687,244 people in action: 1,161,050 Rotarians, 104,627 Rotaractors, and 421,567 Interactors. That’s a global force of volunteers turning service into measurable results in communities worldwide.

These figures come from Rotary News Online’s November 2025 report, reflecting Rotary International’s reach and momentum across generations.

In honor of World Polio Day, Rotary celebrates the inspiring global efforts to eradicate polio through innovative service projects across Bolivia, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Italy, and Australia. These initiatives exemplify Rotary’s commitment to building leadership potential and fostering international bonds while addressing a crucial health challenge.

In Bolivia, Rotaract and Interact members led a “Paws Against Polio” community fair, combining fun and fundraising through dog shows, raffles, and adoption booths. In Ontario, Canada, the Rotary Club of Southampton organized a vibrant purple-themed dinner to rally support and awareness. Trinidad and Tobago’s Rotary enthusiasts hosted a vintage car tour through Italy’s Po Valley, seamlessly merging fellowship with fundraising endeavors. Meanwhile, in Australia, the Rotary Club of Darwin Sunrise continues its tradition of selling tinned Christmas cakes, partnering with local businesses and government to fund the fight against polio.

These collaborations illustrate Rotary’s unwavering dedication to community engagement, mentorship, and professional growth. By leveraging creativity and collective action, Rotary not only advances the mission to end polio but also cultivates the next generation of global leaders.

The Rotary Club of Lake Nona Duck Derby comes to Nona Adventure Park, and every duck funds a local cause you pick: Lake Nona High, Innovation High, Nemours Children's Health, Faith Christian Academy or our community initiatives.🐥

For $20 you adopt a rubber duck that races TWICE (10 AM and noon) for a shot at $3,000, $2,000 or $1,000. You choose the local cause it supports, and you don't even have to be there to win.

Rotary International is proud to announce the selection of Bharat Pandya as the president for the 2028–29 term. This marks a significant milestone in our journey towards impactful global service and leadership development. Dr. Pandya, a distinguished general and laparoscopic surgeon from Mumbai with 38 years of practice, brings a wealth of experience and dedication. Having served as Rotary International director and Rotary Foundation trustee, his leadership will be instrumental in advancing our mission to create lasting change, particularly in the fight to end polio worldwide.

Dr. Pandya’s role as president-nominee, effective from September 15, 2026, if uncontested, will serve as a beacon of leadership and professional growth. Lake Nona is getting its library. 📚

Steve Powell, Library Director and CEO of the Orange County Library System, joined us with the news a lot of Lake Nona has been waiting on. The Dowden Road branch should open in November. It'll have 58,000 books, a kids' area themed around flight and space, a media lab where you can record a podcast, and a sensory quiet room. Its sister branch in Horizon West opens first, on Saturday, October 10. Good timing, too: September is Rotary's Basic Education and Literacy Month.

We had guests from around Lake Nona, two of them thinking about joining. We also thanked the members who collect leftover baked goods from Publix and drop them off at the Ronald McDonald House and the VA.

Our Youth Exchange student from Germany says school is going great and shared with us that she's already made it to Disney. 🐭

Rick Baines gave us the Duck Derby rundown. It's Saturday, December 5 at Nona Adventure Park, with three races, vendors and games for the kids. Each duck is $20, and you pick a Lake Nona public school or one of the listed charities to get $10 of it. Adopt a duck, sponsor a Big Duck, or grab a vendor spot at rotarycluboflakenona.com/page/duck-derby.

Lunch today came from Zhang Garden Chinese Restaurant, and Blaze Pizza fed us at the business networking evening. Thank you both.

On the calendar:

・3rd Annual Book Drive, Wednesday, September 30, 9 AM to 7 PM, at 10743 Narcoossee Rd. Bring gently used books, games, puzzles, CDs and records.

・Orlando Magic Seats for Soldiers, November 2. We still need 80 service members in uniform, so if you know someone, send them our way.

・Holiday on Ice and Toy Drive, Sunday, December 6, at the Ice Factory in Kissimmee. Bring a toy and you skate free.

The Rotary Club of Lake Nona needs volunteers to help pick up baked goods generously donated by Publix and deliver them to the VA Hospital and Lake Nona Ronald McDonald House.

📅 Deliveries take place every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Volunteer once or as often as you’d like! Every delivery helps us serve our community and reduce food waste.
