FIRST RESPONDERS TO THE HUMAN TRAFFICKING CRISIS IN THE UNITED STATES
United Abolitionists exists to stop all forms of human trafficking in the United States. Many organizations tirelessly fight human trafficking on an international scale but there is so much work to be done right here in the U.S. Despite the increased media attention and legislative efforts, human trafficking remains pervasive i
n our country. We are dedicated to addressing the crime in “our own backyard”. UA’s approach is a focused strategy to educate, equip, and empower the community. THE PROBLEM
Men, women, and children are being bought for s*x while others are forced into slave labor. There are now more slaves in the world than any other time in history and it’s happening right here in the United States. Human Trafficking is the fastest growing criminal activity in the world. Its damaging effects are impacting people of all races, backgrounds, and nationalities. The S*x Trafficking Industry makes more than Google, Starbucks and Netflix Combined.
100,000 American children are taken into s*x trafficking every year. The average age of entry into s*x trafficking is 12-14 years old. That means we have children under 10 years old being trafficked in the United States every single day. Over the past year alone, local headlines have featured children, teens, and adults from every state and social status who’ve been forced, coerced or manipulated into becoming little more than objects of selfish desire and profitable gain. From kidnapping, to parents willingly selling their children, human Trafficking is aggressively taking hold of our society. Within 48 hours of running away from home it is estimated that 80% of youth will be approached by a trafficker. The need is great and the resources are few. We are bringing people together to rebuild the lives of these victims and prevent the crime from taking place in order to end modern-day slavery.
