As we step into 2026, we want to pause and reflect on what 2025 held for The Winking Warrior Foundation.

This past year, because of you, we were able to give $30,000 directly to rhabdomyosarcoma research. We helped three families seek the best possible care when they needed it most. We hosted our 3rd Annual Winking Warrior Classic, bringing our community together once again for a cause bigger than any of us. We also joined the Rhabdo Coalition, standing alongside others committed to better treatments, better answers, and more hope.

You may not always see us on social media, but please know this: the work never stops. Behind the scenes, emails are sent, calls are made, research is reviewed, and families are supported. We are still 100% volunteer-based. Still fueled by love and determination. Still led by a bereaved mom doing everything she can to keep her son’s light alive in this world.

None of this would be possible without you. Our donors, sponsors, golfers, friends, and supporters make every dollar, every event, and every step forward possible. Your belief in this mission carries us through the hardest days and reminds us why we keep going.

As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with hope, gratitude, and big dreams. There is more work to be done, more families to support, and more light to shine. We’re just getting started.

Thank you for standing with us.
Thank you for believing.
Here’s to another year of fighting, loving, and shining Bennett’s light, together. 💛✨

"We can actually do this!” 💪🎗✨

At the 2nd Annual Indiana Pediatric Sarcoma Research & Advocacy Summit presented by Elevate Childhood Cancer Research and Advocacy, scientists, clinicians, and advocates came together to accelerate pediatric drug development — building a statewide roadmap to bridge the “Valley of Death” between discovery and treatment.

We’re grateful to Raymond Rodriguez-Torres (Live Like Bella®) and Dr. Diana Azzam (FIU) for inspiring keynotes. Special thanks to our sponsors — Heroes Foundation, Emmie Joy Brooks Fund at IUSCCC, Tyler Trent Foundation, and John Whittington — and to IBRI for their support in making this event possible.

Elevate is showing what true collaboration can achieve for pediatric cancer research development —aiming for precision medicine from day one for every child diagnosed.

Yesterday, I had the honor and privilege to sit in a room with brilliant minds and listen to them talk about pediatric sarcoma at a summit presented by Elevate Childhood Cancer Research and Advocacy.

I sat in awe, hearing scientists and clinicians share new science and progress in clinical trials while also discussing amongst each other so many important issues when it comes to pediatric sarcoma. I listened advocates share their stories and how they are working to make a difference. It was truly inspiring to be surrounded by people who all agree that pediatric sarcoma needs more treatment options, especially for the children who relapse.

A few takeaways from this event…

✨Tissue donation (especially live tissue, when possible) is incredibly important for research. If scientists don’t have models and cells to work with, how can they make progress? Families should be made aware of this when biopsies or tumor resections happen. I wish I would have known.

✨Moving a drug out of “Death Valley” is one of the hardest parts of the process. There are so many challenges between discovery and actually getting a treatment to patients.

✨Florida has created a cigarette tax that funds four cancer research programs, one of which focuses on childhood cancer. This funds millions of dollars in research grants in the state.

✨Robyn Spoon with is absolutely brilliant. I cannot wait to see the incredible impact she continues to make in the pediatric sarcoma community and in Indiana.

This event was powerful, hopeful, and full of purpose. I’m so grateful to have been a small part of it, and I can’t wait to see what next year brings.

Three years ago, Bennett and I got onto an airplane to fly home after finding out his cancer had come back. Four months later, he was gone.

Tomorrow, I will fly out to Indiana to meet with scientists, advocates, and dear friends for a Pediatric Sarcoma Research and Patient Advocacy Summit hosted by .

Three years ago, relapse.
Tomorrow, purpose.
The person I was then would be proud of how far we’ve come. 🤍🫶🏻✨
