New in Artistry Magazine: The Wild & Whimsical World of Anthony Astarita

Brooklyn-born artist Anthony Astarita didn’t grow up on a farm — but his vibrant At The Farm series captures animals with personality, humor, and heart.

From studying goats and cows on YouTube to blending graffiti-like strokes with bold color, Astarita creates work that celebrates rhythm, spirit, and authenticity. His paintings were recently showcased at 4Roots in the Packing District, with 50% of proceeds supporting their mission to grow health, hope, and opportunity in our community.

✨ “Greatness comes from being true to your nature — whether you’re a rooster or a rock star.” — Anthony Astarita

✨ Zora at The Annie — A Hidden Chapter of Central Florida History

In our Nov/Dec issue, we uncover the remarkable backstory behind Zora Neale Hurston’s connection to Rollins College and how students today are bringing that history to life.

Let the People Sing, debuting at the Annie Russell Theatre, isn’t a restaging of Hurston’s 1932 From Sun to Sun — it’s a new, original play by Rollins student playwrights that explores Hurston’s artistic journey, her collaboration with faculty mentors, and the complex racial barriers she faced in Winter Park during the Jim Crow era.

From forgotten trial performances to long-lost music, from campus resistance to creative breakthroughs, this production sheds light on a little-known moment when one of America’s greatest writers insisted that Black folklore belonged on every stage — including Rollins’.

Additionally, Artistry magazine will continue to work as a key force in promoting Central Florida's cultural tourism to the world.

This premiere publication has experienced 25 years of excellence, thanks to the passion and dedication of Cindy LaFronz, Orlando Arts editor, who will continue at the helm of Artistry magazine.
