🎀💕 AND JUST LIKE THAT… WE’RE 10 DAYS AWAY! 💕🎀

The countdown has officially hit SINGLE DIGITS TOMORROW, and the excitement is REAL!

In just 10 days, we will gather for The Hands Behind the Ribbon not just for an event, but for a celebration with PURPOSE. 💗

A celebration of the ones who stood beside them.

The ones who drove to the appointments.
Sat through the treatments.
Waited for the results.
Answered the late-night calls.
Prayed when they didn't have the words.
Stayed strong when they were scared too.
And kept showing up, even when nobody stopped to ask:

“But how are YOU doing?”

🎀 October 17th, we ask that question.

For a few hours, the caregivers won't have to be the ones holding everything together.

We get to hold THEM.

We get to celebrate them.
Honor them.
Pour into them.
Listen to their stories.
Laugh with them.
Cry with them.
And remind them that what they did and continue to do MATTERS. 💕

Every centerpiece, every keepsake, every detail, every word spoken and every seat at the table is being prepared with intention.

Because this is more than a brunch.

This is our LOVE LETTER to the hands that hold hope together.🎀

And whew…if you thought last year was something special, just wait! 💕🙌🏽

🎀 10 DAYS AWAY! 🎀

The Hands Behind the Ribbon
Real People. Real Stories. Real Strength.

💕 We see you. We honor you. We celebrate YOU.

🎀 MY WHY "HER NAME IS POOCHIE" 🎀

People may see the pink ribbons, the events, the posts, The Hands Behind the Ribbon, and all the things I do during Breast Cancer Awareness Month…but behind all of it is my WHY.

Her name is Carlese “Poochie” Wyatt.
She is my sister.
And I will forever say her name. 💗

Poochie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 at only 28 years old. God gave us GRACE and blessed us with 10 more beautiful years with her. Ten more years to love her, laugh with her, make memories with her, and experience life with her.

So when October comes around, breast cancer awareness isn't just a color or a campaign for me.

It has a face.
It has a name.
It has a story.
And that name is "POOCHIE." 🎀

I celebrate her because she LIVED. I speak her name because her life mattered. And I continue the work because what she went through planted something in me that I didn't fully understand at the time.

Poochie is part of the reason I recognize the people behind the diagnosis the caregivers, family members, friends, prayer warriors, appointment keepers, hand holders, and quiet supporters who carry so much while helping someone they love fight.

That is my WHY behind The Hands Behind the Ribbon 🎀

I will keep Poochie's name alive every day, but especially during October. Not because breast cancer is the story I want to define her by, but because her LIFE, her STRENGTH, her GRACE, and her LEGACY deserve to be remembered.

As long as I have breath, my sister's name will continue to be spoken.

🎀 Carlese Wyatt “Poochie” 🎀
My sister.
My WHY.
My forever pink ribbon.

HER FIGHT. OUR PURPOSE.
HER LEGACY. OUR FOREVER. 💗

🎀 THE WEIGHT BEHIND THE RIBBON

30 Days of Honoring the Caregiver Journey

DAY 14 | THE SMILE THEY PUT ON

Sometimes “I’m okay” really means “I’m trying.”

“How are you doing?”

“I’m okay.”

Two simple words.

But for a caregiver, those two words can carry an entire story.

Sometimes “I’m okay” means:

I cried before I got here.

I barely slept last night.

I’m scared about the next appointment.

I’m trying to hold my family together.

I don't know how I'm going to manage everything.

I'm exhausted, but I don't want anyone to worry about me.

So you smile.

You fix your face.

You walk into the room.

You make everyone laugh.

You tell the family, “We've got this.”

You encourage the person you love.

And nobody realizes that five minutes earlier, you were sitting alone trying to pull yourself together.

That's another part of caregiving people don't always see.

The performance of being okay.

Not because caregivers are being dishonest.

Sometimes they're simply trying to protect the people they love.

Sometimes explaining everything they're feeling seems harder than just saying:

“I'm fine.”

But caregiver…

You don't always have to wear the smile.

You are allowed to say:

“Today is hard.”

“I'm tired.”

“I'm scared.”

“I need somebody to listen.”

“I need help.”

You don't have to make everyone else comfortable with your pain.

And you don't have to pretend you're okay to prove that you're strong.

💗 Sometimes strength is telling the truth about how you're really doing.

So the next time you ask a caregiver, “How are you?”

Don't be afraid to ask one more time:

“No… how are YOU really doing?”

And then give them the space to answer.

No fixing.

No judgment.

No reminding them to “stay strong.”

Just listen. 💕

Because sometimes the caregiver doesn't need another person telling them how strong they are.

Sometimes they need somewhere safe enough to stop being strong.

🎀 CAREGIVERS, LET'S TALK:

How many times during your caregiving journey did you say “I'm okay” when you really weren't?

And what did you wish someone had said or done in that moment?

Share only what you're comfortable sharing.

Your words may remind another caregiver that they don't have to hide behind the smile today. 💗

💕 We see you. We honor you. Your story matters.

Some battles are fought by the patient. Others are quietly carried by the hands beside them.

🎀 THE WEIGHT BEHIND THE RIBBON
30 Days of Honoring the Caregiver Journey

DAY 13 | LIFE DOESN’T STOP
Because caregiving happens while everything else is still happening.

One of the hardest parts of caregiving is realizing that while your whole world may have changed…

the rest of the world keeps moving.

The bills still come.

The children still need you.

Work still expects you to show up.

Dinner still has to be figured out.

Laundry still piles up.

The house still needs attention.

Phones still ring.

Emails still need answers.

And somewhere in between all of that…

There are appointments.

Treatments.

Medications.

Pharmacy runs.

Insurance calls.

Sleepless nights.

And someone you love who needs you.

Sometimes caregivers aren't just carrying one responsibility.

They're carrying an entire life while helping someone else fight for theirs.

And people may look at you and wonder how you're managing everything.

The truth?

Sometimes you're not.

Sometimes the laundry waits.

Sometimes dinner comes from a drive-thru.

Sometimes you forget to return the call.

Sometimes you cry in the bathroom and walk back out like everything is okay.

Sometimes you look at your to-do list and think:

“There simply isn't enough of me to go around.”

Caregiver, hear this today:

💗 Everything does not have to be perfect.

The house can wait.

The text can wait.

The dishes can wait.

And when someone says, “What can I do?”

Maybe this is the season to actually tell them.

*Bring dinner.*

*Pick up the kids.*

*Sit with them while I take a nap.*

*Make the pharmacy run.*

*Handle the laundry.*

*Just give me an hour.*

Because asking for help doesn't mean you aren't handling your responsibilities.

It means you recognize that you were never supposed to carry all of this alone.

Some seasons are about thriving.

And some seasons are simply about making it through today.

Both count. 💕

🎀 CAREGIVERS, LET’S TALK:

What everyday responsibility became the hardest to manage while you were caregiving?

And what is one practical thing someone did or you wish someone had done that would have made life a little easier?

Share your experience below.

Your answer may teach someone how to better support the caregiver in their own life. 💗

💕 We see you. We honor you. Your story matters.

Some battles are fought by the patient. Others are quietly carried by the hands beside them.

🎀 THE WEIGHT BEHIND THE RIBBON
30 Days of Honoring the Caregiver Journey

DAY 11 STILL SHOWING UP

Even when you're tired. Even when you're afraid.
Some days you wake up ready to fight alongside them.
Other days…

You wake up tired before your feet ever touch the floor.
Your body is tired.
Your mind is tired.
Your heart is tired.

Maybe you didn't sleep well because you were listening for them throughout the night.

Maybe yesterday's appointment took everything out of you.
Maybe you're worried about test results, bills, medications, work, children, dinner or a hundred other things nobody realizes you're carrying.

And still…
you get up.
You make the breakfast.
You grab the appointment bag.
You check the medications.
You find the keys.
You answer the phone.
You drive to another appointment.
You sit beside another hospital bed.
You hold another hand.
You say “We've got this” even when a small voice inside of you is whispering:

“I don't know how much more I have left.”
That's the part of caregiving people don't always see.
Sometimes courage isn't loud.
Sometimes there is no cape.
No applause.
No big inspirational moment.
Sometimes courage looks like a tired caregiver standing in the kitchen at 6:00 in the morning making sure everything is ready for another day.

Sometimes strength is simply saying:
“I'm tired. I'm scared. I don't know what today will bring…
but I'm still here.” 💗

Caregiver, showing up doesn't mean you never struggle.
It doesn't mean you never cry.
It doesn't mean you don't need help.

And it certainly doesn't mean you have to do everything alone.
Showing up simply means that love kept finding a way.
And sometimes, showing up for yourself matters too.
Rest.

Ask for help.
Take the nap.
Accept the meal.
Let somebody else drive.
Because you deserve to be cared for while you're caring too.

🎀 CAREGIVERS, LET'S TALK:
Was there ever a day when you were completely exhausted, overwhelmed, or afraid but somehow you still found the strength to show up?

What kept you going?
Was it love?
Faith?
Family?
Prayer?

A promise you made?
Or simply knowing someone needed you?

Share your story if you're comfortable.

Someone reading it today may be wondering how they're going to make it through tomorrow.

Your words may remind them:

You don't have to have strength for the entire journey. Sometimes

you just need enough strength for today. 💕

We see you. We honor you. Your story matters.

Some battles are fought by the patient. Others are quietly carried by the hands beside them.
