Central Florida Urban League Today, more than 40,000 residents have benefited from our various empowerment programs.

The Central Florida Urban League improves the social and economic conditions of disadvantaged individuals and families in Central Florida through education, employment, and entrepreneurship. The Central Florida Urban League (formerly known as the Metropolitan Orlando Urban League) was founded on August 5, 1977 and chartered as a national organization on May 28, 1978. An affiliate of the National U

rban League, our chapter was created by respected community leaders who believed that Orlando’s African-American community would benefit from professional, economic, and social support. The National Urban League was founded in the early 20th century to assist African-Americans in the Northeast who had fled the segregationist South, only to discover that racial discrimination has no geographic boundaries. Its first agency opened in 1910 in New York City and is headquartered there today, leading the efforts of its local affiliates through the development of programs, public policy research, and advocacy. Today, there are more than 100 local affiliates in 36 states and the District of Columbia, directly impacting the lives of more than 2 million people nationwide.

Throughout the summer, they brought enthusiasm, fresh perspectives, and a willingness to learn to the Central Florida Urban League. Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and real-world projects, they developed new skills while making meaningful contributions to our team and community.

We’re celebrating not one, but two of our outstanding Summer 2026 interns today! 🌟
Jayden and Jaiden spent their summer gaining valuable hands-on experience, developing new skills, and contributing to the work of the Central Florida Urban League and the communities we serve.

Throughout their internships, they’ve embraced new opportunities, taken on real-world projects, and demonstrated the energy and commitment we love to see in our next generation of leaders.

A big thank you to JPMorganChase for providing Central Florida Urban League President & CEO Elizabeth R. Grace with the opportunity to participate in the America Training Institute in Miami Beach!

The week brought together community-serving professionals from across the country for specialized training, networking, and the exchange of ideas focused on strengthening communities and expanding access to quality, affordable housing.

Throughout the week, Elizabeth participated in a number of sessions, including Affordable Housing Design & Construction Basics, Operational Strategies for Funding Community Development, Housing Rehabilitation and Financing Community Economic Development, gaining valuable knowledge and resources that will help strengthen the CFUL’s work as we continue expanding our housing and homeownership initiatives throughout Central Florida.

We are grateful to JPMorgan Chase for investing in professional development opportunities that build organizational capacity and help leaders bring new strategies and solutions back to the communities they serve.

Across Central Florida, voters are heading to the polls to make their voices heard in important local, state and federal races, including several nonpartisan contests that are open to voters regardless of party affiliation.

At the Central Florida Urban League, we encourage everyone who is eligible to get informed, get engaged and VOTE!

The Central Florida Urban League is proud to partner with the League of Women Voters of Orange County and fellow community organizations for the Unite & Rise Day of Action next Saturday, August 8!

As we commemorate the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, we're coming together to empower our communities and help ensure every eligible voter has the information and encouragement they need to make their voice heard in the August 18 election.

Volunteers are needed for:
✅ Door-to-door canvassing
✅ Phone banking
✅ Literature drops
✅ Sign waving and more!
