💜October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month💜

One of the illnesses Womxn and Breast-Owners are more susceptible to is Breast Cancer. Around 1 in 8 Women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lifetime!

It is extremely important we take measures to detect it as early as possible to prevent further complications.

This is why Womxnism reminds you to touch your b***s! Self-Examination is an important practice for early detection. Even so, many Breast Cancer symptoms are invisible and do require professional screening to be detected.

Take this moment to tag a Breast-Owner and tell them to self-examine!

✨ As we continue celebrating Latinx Heritage Month, today we remember Selena Quintanilla. ✨

Selena Quintanilla-pérez is perhaps one of the biggest Mexican Music Icons.

Born to a Mexican-American Musician, Selena started performing at a young age with her siblings at her family’s Tex-Mex Restaurant in 1981.

She was pulled out of school by her father in the 8th grade to pursue her own musical career. She went on to represent her culture through Tejano Music.

Selena released “ Entre a Mi Mundo” which peaked at No. 1 of the US Billboard Regional Mexican Albums, leading to her breakthrough as an artist.

Unfortunately, her life and career were cut short on March 31, 1995 when she was shot by her former manager Yolanda Saldívar.

💜 We continue to remember Selena’s talent and legacy as a successful Mexican-American Artist 💜

Blood on Halloween can be scary, but Periods shouldn’t be. Period Poverty is a current issue within our society where limited access to Period supplies affects and health of Womxn everywhere.

This is why we are collaborating with Period Ucf for a Period Supply Drive! ❤️

We will be accepting donations for the month of October.

✨ Bisexual Awareness Week ✨
Oftentimes, Bisexuality is discarded as simply being “confused” or “indecisive”.

However, Bisexuals are actually the largest self-identified group within the LGBTQ+ community, with 3.9% of adults identifying as Bisexual, and 6.0% of High School Students doing so as well. Even so, there is a disappointing lack of focus on Bisexual Mental Health.

That is why this week is dedicated to spread the awareness that Bisexuality is a valid sexual preference and deserves to be acknowledged, accepted, and respected.

Let’s help erase Bi-Erasure, and celebrate Bisexuality! 🌈

On September 4th, we are starting a donation drive to support Knights Pantry at UCF. Every Friday, from September 4th through September 25th, we will be coordinating pick-ups for donations! Donation pick-ups will be between 11 a.m and 2 p.m, but may be subject to change depending on volunteer availability. If you would like to donate, please contact us for more information!
