This Saturday! We'll be in Pinellas County with Heritage Village to kick off AAPI Heritage Month and celebrate the opening of their latest exhibit, The Citrus Wizard's Journey: Lue Gim Gong and The Immigrant Spirit. Join us for history, food, and fun!

Stop by our table to color coloring pages of Lue Gim Gong and other notable AAPI figures. Take home a free coloring book by testing your knowledge of AAPI history (don't worry, it's open book!).

Join us to learn about the life of Lue Gim Gong, a Chinese American horticulturalist who developed a frost-tolerant orange variety that saved Florida's citrus industry. The exhibit will be on view at the Williams Park Bandstand until June 27, 2026.

We hope to see you at the opening!

In January 2026, Make Us Visible turns 5! From conversations among parents, teachers, students, and neighbors, we've grown to an incredible movement of 25 state chapters sharing Asian American history with their communities.

To commemorate this milestone, we've put together exclusive thank you gifts that can be yours by donating to our Giving Tuesday campaign. With a donation of $5 or more in honor of 5 years, you’ll receive a special token of our appreciation.

Make a donation by December 31 to receive your gift in February 2026 (while supplies last).

Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we'll reveal the 5th character sticker! The character stickers were designed by amazing artist Mollie Vu.

The coloring books were created in partnership with Admerasia.

Happy Diwali! Students in Broward County Public Schools have the day off today. After hearing from the community, the district's school board announced in December 2024 that Diwali would be recognized as an official school holiday for the 2025-2026 school year.

The five-day long "festival of lights" involves many rituals and activities to celebrate the triumph of good over evil, hope over despair, and knowledge over ignorance. Take a look at some book recommendations to learn and share more about Diwali.

At Make Us Visible Florida, we wish you a wonderful Diwali!

This is a historic milestone in Florida! Asian American and Pacific Islander history and contributions will be a part of the Florida Department of Education's Summer Professional Learning for the first time ever!

Here at Make Us Visible Florida, we've been a part of developing the AAPI history and contributions portion of the program, and we're so excited for it to be shared with teachers across the state.

Program details:
For teachers in the northern half of Florida: Week 1 - July 15-17, 2025, Duval County, Atlantic Coast High School, 9735 R G Skinner Parkway, Jacksonville, FL 32256

For teachers in the southern half of Florida: Week 2 - July 22-24, 2025, Polk County, Davenport High School, 4525 County Road 547, Davenport, FL 33837

Charter schools, private schools, and institutes of higher education can attend whichever week works best for them.

If you'd like to apply to attend the event, go to floridalearns.org/2025/summer

General applications are accepted up to 10 days before the program start. Check with your school district as they may have put together a District Implementation Team to attend the program.

The photos on the cover are attendees with books we gave away last year at the Orlando Blasian Book Fair in partnership with Blasian March.
