๐ฑ Today, on World Environment Day, weโre reminded of something simple yet powerful: we are nature, too. ๐
At Pinewood Elementary, our STEM program goes beyond the classroom walls. Our students dig into the soil, plant seeds, observe insects, water their gardens, and experience firsthand how everything in nature is beautifully connected.
And something truly special happens when a child discovers an earthworm in the dirtโฆ or watches a tiny seed sprout after days of patient care.
They begin to understand that they are part of this cycle. That the environment isnโt something โout thereโ โ itโs where they step, breathe, play, and grow. And that caring for it is, in many ways, caring for themselves.
๐ Caring for the planet starts with small, meaningful actions:
โ
Plant a seed
โ
Observe an insect with curiosity, not fear
โ
Respect the earth that sustains us
In our schoolyard, children learn they are not visitors to the environment โ they belong to it. And that connection is the first step toward raising future stewards of our planet.
๐Tell us in the comments: when was the last time you got your hands in the soil?
