Happy Cherry Blossom Season! This is a very special time of the year for XI Eta Mu Sorority Inc (XEMSI). We celebrate our national flower, the Japanese Cherry Blossom which represents feminine beauty, strength, love and power. The trees are finally starting to bud in Washington DC as we prep for our 3rd annual JCB Festival. Take a look at the bloom cam. Today, we celebrate an important milestone in our nation's history. On this day, 158 years ago, the last enslaved African Americans were declared free. Juneteenth is not just about commemorating the end of slavery; it's about honoring the strength, perseverance, and immeasurable contributions of our ancestors.

As sisters of XI Eta Mu, we value the importance of understanding our past to inform our present and shape our future. Let's honor this day by encouraging dialogue, embracing our culture, and continuing to advocate for equal rights and justice for all.
