Congratulations again to our September Limitless Youth Microgrant winner, Amir!

Amir’s project, Creating a Chicken Coop, brought a creative approach to our Protect Our Planets & Pets theme. His idea centers on raising pasture-raised chickens with humane care while producing fresh eggs and sustainable fertilizer.

We’re excited to see his $500 microgrant help turn his idea into action!

Spotlight: Erika Feazell, Limitless Program Coordinator

A few months into her role, Erika is already seeing the impact of youth powering youth. As Program Coordinator, she guides the Limitless Youth Microgrant program and supports the Youth Advisory Board, helping K–12 students across Orange and Osceola Counties turn their ideas into action.

In her words, the Youth Advisory Board isn't just adults pouring into youth. It's youth pouring into their peers. Erika has already watched board members who came in shy or observant grow into leaders who raise their hands, speak up, and use their voice with confidence.

That's the ripple effect of youth leadership: young people building confidence and insight now, then carrying it forward into how they show up for their communities for the rest of their lives.

When you hear the word “homelessness,” what do you picture?

For a young person, housing instability can look very different than many of us realize.

It can mean staying in a motel. Sleeping in a car. Temporarily living with another family because your family lost its housing. Or not knowing how long you can stay where you are.

Both Orange and Osceola County school districts have programs specifically designed to protect the educational rights of students navigating situations like these.

That’s why this month’s Belonging & Community challenge matters.

We’re asking K–12 students: What idea could help a young person or family feel safer, more supported, or more connected to their community?

Your idea could receive a $500 Limitless Youth Microgrant to help make it happen.

The Poinsette Foundation's October Limitless Youth Microgrant applications are now open!

What could you do with $500 to help someone in your community feel a little more at home?

This month’s theme, Belonging & Community, encourages K–12 students in Orange and Osceola Counties to turn awareness into action around housing stability and belonging.

Your project could:

* Organize a resource drive for students or families facing housing instability.
* Create a know-your-rights guide for renting families.
* Launch a peer support initiative for students navigating housing challenges.
* Partner with a local shelter or housing organization on a community project.

Selected students will receive a $500 microgrant to bring their ideas to life.

Apply by October 10 to be considered.

President & CEO Mia Poinsette recently joined the Victory Cup Initiative's Community Evaluator Breakfast, continuing her work as a VCI Board Member elected earlier this year.

Victory Cup Initiative has invested more than $4 million in Central Florida nonprofits since 2015, training leaders to tell their stories and connecting them with the funding and partnerships that help their missions grow. As the organization deepens its work in Osceola County, Mia's leadership brings a direct line between that mission and the students and families the Poinsette Foundation serves every day.

This is what Wraparound Philanthropy™ looks like beyond our own programs: strengthening the ecosystem of nonprofits doing the work alongside us.

Congratulations to our September Limitless Youth Microgrant recipient, Amir!

The Poinsette Foundation is proud to award a $500 Limitless Youth Microgrant to Amir, a 10th grade student, for his project, a chicken coop built to house pasture-raised chickens.

Inspired by stories his parents shared about raising chickens in their own childhoods, Amir set out to create that same hands-on experience for himself and his family. His project reflects September's theme of caring for our planet and pets: raising chickens humanely, outside the conditions of industrial facilities, while producing fresh eggs and sustainable fertilizer along the way.

Amir's vision extends beyond his own backyard. Once his coop is complete, he plans to teach friends and neighbors how to build their own through presentations, workshops, and building guides, turning one project into a more connected, ecologically minded community.

Through the Poinsette Foundation's Limitless Youth Microgrant, we're proud to invest in young people like Amir who are learning new skills, caring for their community, and finding creative ways to make an impact.

Congratulations, Amir! We can't wait to see the coop come to life.

September’s Limitless Youth Microgrant applications close tomorrow at 5 p.m.

If you’re a K–12 student in Orange or Osceola County with an idea to help animals, support a rescue, protect wildlife, or explore the positive connection between pets and people, we want to hear from you.

Selected students will receive $500 to put their ideas into action through our Protect Our Planets & Pets theme.
