Yesterday’s press conference marked a major step forward in Florida’s fight against the overdose crisis.

Alongside Sheriff Dennis Lemma and community partners, we unveiled DrugTRAC, an AI-powered system designed to detect dangerous trends in real time and help save lives before tragedy strikes.

This is more than innovation, it’s prevention in action.

Today marks Florida’s first official Fentanyl Awareness & Education Day.

Fentanyl is driving overdose deaths across our state, taking lives through counterfeit pills, poly-substance use, and hidden contamination in the drug supply.

This day, created through House Bill 259, is dedicated to raising awareness, educating communities, and mobilizing action. Together, we can prevent overdoses and save lives.

Project Overdose distributed 5,280 doses of naloxone to , one of Orlando’s most respected tattoo studios, marking a powerful step in redefining responsibility in unexpected places.

More than a tattoo parlor, Black Ink is a trusted voice in their industry, and they used that influence to lead change. By including naloxone in every after-care bag, they’ve upgraded the standard of care and inspired multiple shops across the region to do the same.

This movement is about leadership, trust, and showing that preparedness belongs everywhere. Tattoo shops are stepping up, and their influence is spreading.

We’re proud to partner with community leaders like Black Ink Orlando to expand naloxone access and save lives - one shop at a time.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of David Siegel, a passionate advocate in the fight against the opioid crisis.

After losing his daughter Victoria to an overdose in 2015, David transformed unimaginable grief into lasting impact. Through Victoria’s Voice Foundation, he became a leading voice for prevention, education, and access to naloxone, the overdose reversal medication that has saved thousands of lives. His advocacy helped reduce stigma and expand access, and he played a key role in the passage of “Victoria’s Law” in Florida, which established June 6 as Naloxone Awareness Day and empowered the Department of Health to help communities respond.

We are incredibly grateful for his commitment, his leadership, and his heart. His impact will continue to ripple through countless families and communities.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Siegel family during this difficult time.
