OCAAEN was established in 2012 as an initiative by a group of service-oriented Orange County Government employees to support practical development of our agency workforce and enrich the local community. In 2020, the coalition was registered as a non-profit entity organized and functional in the State of Florida. OCAAEN Mission Statement: To identify, educate, motivate and mentor African American E
mployees and colleagues within Orange County Government. OCAAEN Purpose: The purpose of establishing OCAAEN is to enhance awareness of African American culture within Orange County Government by promoting multiculturalism and diversity in all aspects of professional, social, and organizational life. OCAAEN Objectives:
• To develop and retain leaders within Orange County Government from a variety of organizational roles, as well as provide a cultural basis to retain and promote minorities.
• To promote and provide cultural opportunities for African American staff that will enhance their quality of life (i.e. mentoring, resource development).
• To assist the organization and other community-based entities in their efforts to improve the quality of life for populations of color in the Orange County community. • To host events which enhance networking opportunities for African American staff.
