Shrine Mont Shrine Mont is a conference and retreat center. Part of our facility is a renovated former resort that is on the National Register of Historic Places.

From workshops & music festivals, to family reunions & vacations, or an individual retreat, Shrine Mont is a great destination year round! Shrine Mont is located on 1,200 acres of forest in the historic resort town of Orkney Springs, VA fifteen miles west of I81 and two hours west of Washington, DC. Accommodations vary from hotel style rooms to cottages for families or small groups. Recreation activities include swimming, tennis, hiking, sports activities, volleyball, shuffleboard, Boccie, hayrides and camp fires. Golf, down hill biking and skiing are available at the nearby Bryce resort.

It’s been one year since we broke ground on the restoration of Art Hall and Brown Hall! 🏡✨

Over the past year, we’ve watched these projects take shape as our crews work to preserve two beloved parts of Shrine Mont while preparing them to serve guests for generations to come.

Today, we’re looking back at where we started, celebrating how far Art Hall and Brown Hall have come, and looking forward to seeing the finished spaces come to life.

A tradition that’s been simmering for generations! 🍎🍂

Homemade apple butter has long been a cherished fall tradition at Shrine Mont. From the slow stirring of the pot to the sweet aroma of apples and spices filling the mountain air, this time-honored tradition brings people together and keeps a special piece of Shrine Mont’s history alive, one batch at a time.

Progress is underway at the Upper Pond! 🌿

Originally built in 1965, The Lake gave Shrine Mont guests and campers a place to fish, canoe, and enjoy time outdoors. After the base of the dam began to leak, the area eventually fell out of use and earned a new nickname—the “Dead Sea.”

Now, we’re working toward bringing the Upper Pond back to life. Repairing the dam will create new opportunities for guests and campers to enjoy this part of Shrine Mont once again, while also laying the groundwork for future possibilities on the property.

We’re excited to see progress being made and to imagine this special place filled with activity again! 💛
