It’s powerful to see support coming from every corner of our community: hikers and wildlife enthusiasts, houndsmen, hunters and anglers, and all who value and use wild places.

A huge thank-you to for generously donating equipment, and to .m.peterson & .peterson.a and the Grant Team, + & Social Media Coordinator, ._ for their incredible work this year. Your dedication makes this project possible.

Language and context matter! Often news outlets use clickbait headlines, contributing to misconceptions about large carnivores like mountain lions. Last week, a lion encounter in Orange County gained publicity after the video circulated on social media. This headline DOES NOT accurately describe the encounter, as this is a young juvenile who showed curious, NON-AGGRESSIVE behavior.

Humans are not on the menu for mountain lions! As seen in this video, this juvenile was simply wondering what we are! Remember: Mountain lion attacks are extremely rare. In fact, you are 7000x more likely to be involved in a fatal car accident. They're most active from dusk to dawn. If you do see one - don't run; make yourself big, yell, and back away slowly.
