Helping Hands Needed!
WE NEED YOU residents to HELP US CROSS THE FINISH LINE for the Discovery Park Rebuild. We got a little behind due to the weather and we’re looking to make it up with more volunteers.
We are short on volunteers for our Friday, May 10th evening shift (5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.) and the Saturday, May 11th shifts. Our shifts on Saturday are 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., 12:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. We know Saturdays are busy, but if you can only spare a couple of hours we’ll take any help we can get. Saturday, May 11th is the last day of the build and we need to have the park finished. We need another 100 volunteers with each given shift.
We need mostly adults to help finish this project especially anyone who is skilled in building or construction. We can accommodate some youth as we wrap this up. Youth ages 10-13 can be onsite but must be with a parent. Youth 14-17 can be onsite without a parent, but we need to limit them as they aren’t allowed to use power tools. We would encourage any youth that is coming to bring a parent. (And as a reminder for those who have younger ones, we have people here to tend your children under 12, provided they are potty trained. Make it a date night)
We will feed you dinner on Friday and lunch and dinner on Saturday if you’re helping during those times. Friday dinner is sponsored by MarcosPizza and Saturday lunch is sponsored by Chick-fil-A. Saturday dinner will be an ol’ fashioned BBQ.
Also, former BYU Basketball Star Jimmer Fredette will be onsite this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. to talk to those that are working on the project.
If you’re able to join us, please email us at [email protected] to let us know you are coming. We’ve already had over 1500 volunteers on this project and we need another 400 to finish it up.
We appreciate your help in this wonderful legacy project that will service the Pleasant Grove Community for many years to come.
