You can’t always see a disability.

Some children use wheelchairs, braces, or mobility aids. Others may have disabilities that aren’t immediately apparent, including autism and developmental disabilities.

A child who struggles to communicate, becomes overwhelmed by sensory input, has difficulty regulating emotions, or learns differently may be navigating challenges that aren’t visible to everyone around them.

That’s why understanding matters. Compassion matters. Support matters.

At Kids on the Move, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive… and every family deserves support along the way.

What’s one thing you wish more people understood about invisible disabilities?

Parenting a neurodivergent kid sometimes means you can go from “This is fine” to “WHY ARE WE CRYING IN THE PARKING LOT?” in approximately 4.7 seconds.

There are the appointments, the therapies, the school meetings, the unexpected changes, the sensory overload, the big feelings, the tiny victories, and approximately 47 things you never thought you’d have to know about.

And then there are the moments that make you laugh so hard you think, Okay… we’re going to be alright. ❤️

Because sometimes the things that feel so hard in the moment become the stories you tell years later with a smile.

To the parents figuring it out as they go: we see you. We understand. You don’t have to find every moment easy. You don’t have to have it all together.

We just hope that in between the hard moments, you find the beauty, the unexpected joy, and maybe even a little laughter.

Parents, what’s a moment that TERRIFIED you in the moment… but you can laugh about now? 😂

You know the ones… the moments where your heart stopped, your brain went into full emergency mode, and you thought, “How am I going to explain this to anyone?!” 😅

Maybe your child disappeared for 30 seconds. Maybe they climbed somewhere they absolutely shouldn’t have. Maybe you turned around and thought, “WHERE DID THEY GO?!”

Whatever your story is, we want to hear it!

Tell us the parenting moment that scared you half to death then… but makes you laugh now. 😂

And no judgment here, parenting is an adventure!

Today is National Nonprofit Day, a day to recognize the organizations working every day to make our communities stronger.

But nonprofits don’t exist simply because there are needs. They exist because people believe those needs are worth addressing.

At Kids on the Move, that belief looks like a child gaining a new skill, a parent finding support, a family getting the chance to breathe, and a community becoming more inclusive.

For more than 40 years, our mission has been simple: help children with developmental delays and disabilities and support the families who love them.

And we couldn’t do it alone.

Every donor who gives, volunteer who shows up, employee who pours their heart into this work, partner who opens a door, and advocate who shares our mission becomes part of something bigger.

That’s the beautiful thing about nonprofits: they turn a community’s belief that something should be better into action.

Today, we’re grateful for everyone who helps keep children moving forward.

Happy National Nonprofit Day from Kids on the Move.

The challenges you face today do not have to define your tomorrow. Most parents don’t set out to become experts in early childhood development. They become experts because they love their children fiercely and realized they needed to be their best advocate.

At KOTM, we honor that “Reluctant Hero” energy. Through our Early Head Start home-based services, we provide the “meat”-the actual, research-based strategies you can use in your own living room to encourage growth.

We aren’t here to tell you how to parent… we’re here to provide the support, education, and resources to guide your family toward success.

Is it dyslexia? Autism? Or could it be both?

Because some signs overlap, it can be difficult to know what’s causing your child’s challenges.

While dyslexia primarily affects reading and language processing, autism influences communication, social interaction, sensory experiences, and behavior.

Some children have one, while others have both.

The most important thing isn’t trying to diagnose your child yourself, it’s recognizing when something doesnt feel right and seeking an evaluation.

Early identification helps children receive the support they need to build confidence, develop new skills, and thrive.

At Kids on the Move, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and every family deserves trusted guidance along the way.

Have questions about developmental milestones or early intervention? We’d love to help.

Quality care is a right, not a privilege.

Finding a childcare provider you can trust is a big decision, especially when you’re navigating the uncertainty of developmental needs or financial barriers.

At Kids on the Move, we’re here to make that decision easier. We are a top-rated Utah County provider with over 20 years of experience.

We don’t just offer “supervision”, we offer specialized care led by professionals. And because we believe every child deserves this foundation, we work closely with DWS to accept childcare subsidies.

We handle the heavy lifting of quality and accessibility so you can have peace of mind every time you drop your child off.

“There’s nothing we can do.” Those are words no parent should ever have to hear.

We know that in the first 1,000 days of life, everything is possible. Your intuition as a parent is your most powerful tool.

Those first smiles, shaky steps, and “mama” babbles are manifestations of a rapidly growing brain that is 80% developed by age three.

We ve put together this guide to help you track the milestones that matter most.

From building foundations in the first month to the language explosion at age two, every step counts.

Kids on the Move is dedicated to empowering families, one child at a time. You don’t have to navigate this journey alone.
