First responders in Lucas County and beyond are seeing higher volumes of 911 calls that continue to strain our EMS system and hospital emergency centers.
So when should you call 9-1-1? We ask you to use a common sense approach as well as a few examples listed:
Examples of 9-1-1 EMERGENT situations include but not limited to:
* A medical emergency, such as someone who is unconscious, gasping for air or not breathing, experiencing an allergic reaction, having chest pain, seizures, uncontrollable bleeding, or any other symptoms that require immediate medical attention.
* When there is a fire
* Motor vehicle accident with injuries.
Examples of NON-EMERGENCY situations that a 9-1-1 call would not be warranted include but not limited to:
* Minor injury or illness not requiring immediate help
* COVID19 Tests
* Chronic aches and pains (lasting for a long period of time and/or recurring)
