Cowboy Action Weekend Adventure

Saddle up for an action-pack Western-themed campout. Scouts will compete in various BSA Nationally approved Cowboy Action themed activities including lariat roping, Muzzleloader firing, long bow archery, Rifle/Shotgun Range, Lever-Action Rifle and Pistol, Tomahawk Throws, and a chili cookoff. Friday night features an open shoot for adult leaders.

Registration includes a patch, Saturday morning Pancake Breakfast, main ingredients for Saturday’s Dinner/Chili Cookoff (meat, onions, kidney beans), ammo for the shooting sports activities, and overnight indoor lodging (limited space).

Tent camping is an option. *Per Guide to Safe Scouting, only youth ages 14 years old and above; or 13 years old AND completed 8th grade are allowed to use the Lever-Action Rifle and Pistol. All other activities are open to all ages Scouts BSA and Crew.

Who: Open to Adults and Youth members in Scouts BSA and Venturing

When: Friday-Sunday, August 15-17, 2025

Where: Camp Lowden (4418 S. Scout Road, Oregon, IL)

Cost: $42 per Adult/Youth early-rate fee; fee increases to $52 per participant on August 1. Registration ends August 7.

Camp Lowden NEEDS help with improvement workdays.
Projects range from seasonal improvements, i.e., brush clearing, winterization, etc., to improvement projects such as trail clearing, painting, etc.

Please pack your own food, wear appropriate clothing, and bring your water bottle. Contact Bob Gingras if you plan to attend for a head count.

We have had some wonderful camp improvements!
Look how beautiful the Chapel looks thanks to a coat of paint!
A big thank you to Pottenger and Paul Mellen for starting our tomahawk area project.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with various projects throughout the year! Our upcoming event is August 9th!

2024 Legends of Scouting
Camp Lowden was abuzz with excitement of the “Legends of Scouting”, an event celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the Blackhawk Area Council. Blessed with outstanding fall weather, the event welcomed both Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA for a weekend filled with adventure and learning. The event featured a variety of activities designed to engage scouts of all ages.
