Today we celebrate workers, and we owe a great debt of gratitude to the unions that fought hard for things we now take for granted. The 40-hour workweek, the weekend, paid time off, safe workplaces, child labor laws. None of that came from the goodness of any boss’s heart. Working people organized, struck, and bled for every one of those wins.
But the work isn’t done. Every generation of workers has had to defend what the last generation won, and our generation is no different. Whether you’re in a union, building one, or thinking about it for the first time, it’s important to show solidarity with workers today and every day.

Thank you Columbia Pacific Building Trades Council for your endorsement! I am proud to have your support.

Submit a comment to show your support for the NEXT Renewable Fuels Port Westward project, which will create a union-built facility in Columbia County!

The Army Corps of Engineers is holding a public comment period for the last permit NXTClean Fuels needs in order to build a $3 billion clean fuels facility. The project will be union built and NXT has signed a Neutrality Agreement for operations.

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT PROJECT FOR THOUSANDS OF UNION WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES!

Call to Action! Please follow the link below to submit a letter of support for the proposed NXTClean Fuels project in Clatskanie, OR. the process takes less than a minute to complete.

During construction, NXT will create more than 3,000 union jobs that will prioritize local hiring. During operation, NXT will create more than 240 family-wage jobs that the local talent pool is qualified to fill. The facility will generate more than $16 million in local property tax revenue and $5.5 million in Port fees. Local tax revenue will help support local education, public safety, health services and more.

The Army Corps of Engineers should select the Port Westward alternative and approve a permit for NXT to develop the Port Westward Site 1.

It is great to see Washington Governor Ferguson voicing strong support for this much needed infrastructure project. We are proud to represent all the hard working building trades members current and new that will work on this historic and vital piece of infrastructure. Great job Executive Secretary Kurtenbach and all the building trades folks that came out to support our members!

Ensuring a redundant and resilient energy supply while modernizing our infrastructure is vital for the growth of our local businesses and community. As we look toward the future of Portland and Oregon, it is essential that we advocate for resilient systems that benefit everyone. This progress must include strong labor standards that support our workers and provide the training necessary for the next generation of our workforce through top notch existing state registered apprenticeship programs.
