Clackamas County Family Violence Coordinating Council (FVCC) Since 1992, a multi-disciplinary group of organizations working collaboratively to prevent and respond to domestic violence in Clackamas County, Oregon.

The work of the Council is guided by council members’ shared commitment to: the right of all people to live free from violence or the threat of violence, the responsibility of the entire community to prevent family violence, recognition that cooperation and coordination among public and private resources are essential to effectively address family violence and change social norms, and recognition

that efforts to address the issues of family violence must be culturally specific, based in respect for all individuals and the desire to build a rich multicultural community

The Clackamas County Strangulation Response Initiative hosted the Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention for their 4-day Advanced Course in Strangulation Prevention from March 8-11th. The training was held at the Al Kader Center in Wilsonville with 157 professionals from around Oregon attending, representing half of the counties in the state.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men experience severe physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime. Nearly half of men and women experience emotional/psychological abuse from an intimate partner. Abuse is a lot closer to home than you may realize.

Domestic violence encompasses a spectrum of behaviors that abusers use to control victims. If you or a friend experience these behaviors from a partner, remember: it is not your fault and there are advocates waiting to help.
