BLF Canada will cover the cost to ship the books from Quebec to Haiti. SF partner Rev. Toe-Blake Roy of BLF Canada shared how the Lord was at work in an evangelism campaign at a small Baptist church in Ste-Anne-de-Madawaska, Canada, August 4th-8th. An American missionary had been in the same area and had committed to pray Friday nights on the church’s property—for seven years. His prayer was to see the entire town receive a Gospel message in their home. God answered his prayer! The ministry Every Home for Christ International sent Gospel booklets to 5,100 homes two weeks before the campaign. This prepared the way for 40 evangelists to follow up door-to-door and invite locals to a free Hope Breakfast at the close of the campaign.

At the breakfast, Rev. Roy asked one of the partcipants if he knew God loved him. The participant answered with a clear yes: In a difficult time, he had intentionally walked over a barely-frozen lake, hoping to fall through and be free of his troubles. Sinking into the freezing water, he realized he wanted to live and asked for God to save him. At that moment, a police officer nearby saw him, and he was rescued. Rev. Roy was thrilled to continue the conversation about God’s love, and the participant intends to come back to the church. Please pray for each of the campaign's participants to respond to God’s love, and for those who served them to not grow weary of doing good.

"I thank you for these generous gifts of books for the John Huffman School library. A young girl spent two months reading the big book of Narnia. She was so happy when she brought it to me, saying, ‘Auntie, I read the whole book you gave me.’

"The book on Martin Luther also appealed to a child who, among other things, learned about the Reformation and the story of Martin Luther. He hadn't heard of it. When I explained it to him, he picked up the book again and reread it with even greater interest.

"The Manga collection brings joy to Christians and non-Christians alike. Children come to the library to read them and discover the Good News. It's great to see children fighting for these books."

SF partner Billy Caleb Gnikpingo of the Central African Republic used our Sunday school curriculum for a local vacation bible school (VBS) last week. The VBS centered around the theme “Faith and Works,” inspired by James 2:17. Expressing his profound gratitude to SF, Pastor Gnikpingo writes that the curriculum is “a teaching tool of great value [that] will contribute enormously to the teaching of the Word of God during this vacation Bible school.”

Our partners at the Oasis Media Center, a print-on-demand ministry in Kinshasa, DRC, urgently request our prayers. Due to red tape and costs at the Kinshasa customs office, needed production supplies arrived from the US are stuck, and the print shop is out of stock material needed to print books. Please pray for a helpful custom agent, funds necessary to pass through customs, wisdom and strength for the center’s Director Leonard Kiswangi as he negotiates with customs, and a way through the waters. “Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen," (Ps. 77:19).

We are delighted to introduce new SF missionaries Modeste and Lucie Mutshiawudi Mbombo! Pastor Modeste and occasionally Madame Lucie make multiple annual trips to the Pygmies evangelizing, educating volunteers in community development, and providing pastors and believers with training, biblical literature, and Bibles. They brave hazardous roads, illnesses, and other dangers to share the Gospel. In addition, the Mbombos teach the Word of God in their local church: Pastor Modeste as a pastor since 1992 and Lucie as leader of the women’s ministry. Please pray for the Mbombos in their ministry to the vulnerable, neglected Pygmy community.

Meet two new SF board members, Dr. Deborah Eisenhut and Josiah Walkup! Dr. Deborah Eisenhut is a veteran medical missionary, a surgeon who trains surgeons through the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons. Having served in Pakistan, Liberia, Cameroon, and Kenya, she helped us set up our “More Than Surgery” project, which provides curated book sets for African missionary surgeons.

Josiah Walkup is an alumnus of two France Impressions Team (FIT) trips, where he proved himself a dependable leader and skillful worker. He offers insights as a member of SF’s Impressions for Youth editorial committee, teaches Sunday school at his local church, and serves at the Lions Club and Leo Club in his community. A full-time aircraft mechanic pursuing his pilot’s license, he is training to become a missionary pilot.

SF joyfully gave the digital files of our lauded Sunday school curriculum to new partner Pastor Billy Caleb Gnikpingo, who trains Sunday school teachers as well as their trainers in Bangui, CAR. Grateful for this needed resource, he plans to implement the curriculum in year-round seminars, workshops, and training sessions in local churches. “Children represent the future of the Church,” Pastor Gnikpingo writes, expressing his heart to galvanize spiritual growth in the next generation of Christ followers. Please pray for Pastor Gnikpingo, the training sessions, the teachers, the trainers, and mostly for children to be rooted in biblical truth, grow in love for Christ, and walk faithfully with Him.
