It’s that time of year again! 🎄 We’re getting a head start on our Annual Holiday Bazaar, and we’re looking for vendors!

Last year’s bazaar was a great success, and we’re looking forward to making this year’s event even bigger and better. We’re looking for local vendors who have holiday goodies, handmade crafts, unique gifts, and homemade treasures to share with our community.

And the best part? There is no vending fee!

Through the Gleaners Adoptee Program, Gleaners members have the opportunity to share a portion of their food with an approved adoptee in their community. For some adoptees, that support can make a meaningful difference in their own lives and, as Cindy has experienced, it can also help them give back to others.

As Cindy says:
“Not only does Gleaners provide me with the majority of the food I eat each week, it has allowed me to cook a meal once a week for my senior community.”

For the past year, Evan has been learning the ropes in the Gleaners kitchen alongside Cheryl, one of our lead cooks. And while we're definitely sad to see him go, we're so excited for what's ahead!

Cheryl has taught Evan so much, not just about cooking, but about working in a kitchen, building his skills, and what it takes to pursue a career in the culinary world. It's been so fun to watch him learn, grow, and become more confident in the kitchen.

Now, Evan is taking all of that experience with him as he heads off to culinary school to pursue his dream! Good luck, Evan! We can't wait to see where your dream takes you.

It's been a minute since we've posted and boy, have we been busy! Let's catch up!

Over the weekend, our Gleaners team was out in the community at not one, but two local fairs: Hilltop's Health & Safety Fair and Milwaukie's .

We love being part of events like these because they're about so much more than a day of fun. They're opportunities for neighbors to come together, discover helpful community resources, learn something new through hands-on activities and demonstrations, and connect with local organizations.

Both fairs were full of great energy, and we always have such a great time being part of them! A big thank you to the organizers for creating these wonderful opportunities for our community.

48 years. That's nearly five decades of showing up, serving others, and helping make Gleaners what it is today.

Geri has been an incredible team leader throughout her years with Gleaners, coordinating our field picks and wood giveaways and always stepping up whenever there was a need. Her kindness and sweet spirit have touched so many people over the years.

Reducing and reusing don't have to be complicated. From shopping secondhand and donating usable items to repairing, refilling, renting, and finding new uses for things you already have, there are lots of ways to keep good stuff in use and out of the landfill.

Clackamas County, Oregon has created an interactive map that makes it easier to find local reuse, refill, rental, donation, repair, and other resources throughout the area.

And if you're a Gleaners member, be sure to check out the resource handouts available at our warehouse, with information on a variety of community resources.

We're always looking for ways to connect our members with helpful resources beyond the food we provide.

Ralph has been a faithful part of Gleaners for many years, volunteering two or more days each week as one of our forklift drivers. Some days, he'd arrive as early as 6:00 a.m. and stay until 6:00 p.m., always ready to help wherever he was needed.

A true team player, Ralph is known for his dedication, willingness to help, and always-present smile. His commitment is exactly the kind of service that goes above and beyond.

A wonderful day celebrating our Gleaners community!

More than 300 members and adoptees joined us Saturday for our Member Appreciation Picnic, enjoying good food, games, activities, team spirit, and plenty of fun. From cotton candy and face painting to tie-dye, bingo, and raffles, there was something for everyone!

Most importantly, the picnic gave us a chance to celebrate and thank the volunteers who make Gleaners possible. Their time, dedication, and heart are at the center of everything we do. 💚
