As lovely as her name, here’s the original painting used to illustrate the cover of Walt Disney’s “Cinderella” Storyteller record album in the late 1950s. The Disneyland series featured art surrounded by colorful painted record grooves as separate elements. This painting was also used in international releases as well. The artist is uncredited so here’s hoping there’s a book someday to document the amazing work that went into these record covers!

🎬 On June 8, 1956, Walt Disney’s Civil War drama “The Great Locomotive Chase” made its premiere in Atlanta, Georgia! Starring Fess Parker and Jeffrey Hunter, the film was shot mostly on location in the region just a year prior. For Disney history buffs: a rare premiere program reveals a last-minute schedule change. The animated short “Jack and Old Mac” was swapped out for the Donald Duck short “How to Have an Accident in the Home” to ensure the entire premiere line-up was presented in glorious, widescreen CinemaScope! 🚂

Johnny Tremain may have been from old Boston Town, but actor Hal Stalmaster and the Mouseketeer stars of the “Mickey Mouse Club” TV show were on their way to promote Walt Disney’s new movie in Chicago in June of 1957. As America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, it’s a great time to revisit this classic!

America on Parade debuted at Walt Disney World on June 6, 1975 and the following week at Disneyland. This imaginative salute to the country’s founding celebrated the Bicentennial well into 1976. The parade and its oversized characters are fondly remembered by many Disney fans a half century later.

It’s a Firehouse Five Plus Two Friday as we celebrate the famed Dixieland jazz band made up of Disney animators and employees. Lucasfilm writer and historian Lucas Seastrom also specializes in the history of this band. He focused in-depth on the band’s 1950 activities for an article published in our 2019 HHA Annual available on Amazon, at Stuart Ng Books, and the Walt Disney Family Museum.

Generally released to theaters on June 4, 1964, “The Three Lives of Thomasina” starred Karen Dotrice and Matthew Garber ahead of their “Mary Poppins” fame, as well as Susan Hampshire and Patrick McGoohan, seen here on location in Scotland with Walt Disney.

In 1952, a groundbreaking tour introduced audiences to the Dancers of Bali. Before then, the troupe had never traveled beyond their remote village in Indonesia. Their journey took them to London’s West End, Broadway, and TV appearances across the U.S.

Among the performers were three Legong dancers—Anom, Raka, and Oka—who met Walt Disney as his studio was exploring cultures around the world to feature in Disney’s award-winning People and Places documentary series.

“My, What a Happy Day!” Here are several original paintings used to illustrate pages in the “Mickey and the Beanstalk” Disneyland LP Storyteller book and record set from the 1960s. We’re so fond of Walt Disney’s “Fun and Fancy Free” (1947) that the first limited edition publication we produced was JB Kaufman’s look at how this film was made. Our distributor, Stuart Ng Books, only has a few copies left!

Seeing this 1967 issue of Scholastic’s SummerTime magazine, it’s easy to see why EPCOT Center captured the public’s imagination and lasted through its opening 15 years later. Kids learned about Walt Disney’s plans for “Florida’s Fun City of the Future” with this amazing magazine cover story.

As May gives way to June, here’s a pretty background painting used to suggest a seasonal transition in the “Johnny Fedora and Alice Blue Bonnet” segment of Walt Disney’s “Make Mine Music” (1946). The final scene, lasting two seconds at the 5:35 mark in the animated short, included animation of falling petals.
