Senior Wishes Our organization has granted over 400 wishes to income qualifying seniors and those residing care facilities. Sometimes, it’s a simple need we help with.

Granting life-enriching wishes to low income seniors and those in care facilities, recognizing the service of WNY Senior Veterans with HERO Boxes and bringing holiday gifts to 100's of isolated seniors each December so they know they are not forgotten. Senior Wishes was created to recognize that our aging seniors still have things they want to do, places they want to go, or people they want to see. We transform those dreams into reality.

It was a beautiful day yesterday for Susan’s wish granting! It’s been 30 years since she last was at the zoo and she could barely contain her excitement. Meeting Romeo, the resident rhino, was definitely the highlight of the day! We learned he has an insatiable appetite for carrots! Susan took home a couple of autographs that he made with his snout, especially for her! After seeing all the zoo animals, Senior Wishes staff treated her to lunch and then a stop at the Zootique for several souvenirs.

Senior Wishes brought a day of joy and memories to Susan, but most importantly she felt “like a queen.” …..The power of a wish.

Facts about our flag:

*The original 1777 flag was designed to represent the 13 original colonies. It had 13 white stars on a blue field and 13 alternating red and white stripes.
*One of the first flag designs had the stars arranged in a circle, based on the idea that all colonies were equal.
*In 1818, after a few design changes, the United States Congress decided to retain the flag’s original 13 stripes and add new stars to reflect each new state that entered the union.
*Each time a state was added to the union, a star was added. Today, there are 50 stars, one for each state in the union, but the 13 stripes remain.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

Jerry had a simple yet meaningful wish: to visit Vidler’s once again and relive the memories of shopping there in his younger years. As a Buffalo resident without transportation to East Aurora, making the trip on his own was not possible.

We helped create a special day just for Jerry, complete with a gift card for shopping and lunch at one of his favorite restaurants. Most importantly, we gave Jerry the opportunity to feel valued, recognized, and celebrated.

It was a powerful reminder that even the simplest wishes can make a lasting impact.

Remembering D-Day…..

On June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history, attacking the heavily fortified coast of Normandy, France, during World War II. FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

In 2022, we were honored to grant a special “group wish” for the residents of 400 Towers in Batavia. Their wish was simple but meaningful — a community coffee station where neighbors could come together, share conversations, and enjoy a cup of coffee with friends. We’re happy to hear that this little coffee machine is still going strong today, continuing to bring residents together and creating opportunities for connection and companionship.

Senior Wishes grants life enriching wishes to seniors age 65+, with an income below 38K for a household of one and 44K for a household of two (unless residing in a care facility) and who is unable to fulfill the wish on their own or with family assistance. Ask an eligible senior, "If you had one wish, what would it be?"
