Lydia Lane is officially FULLY FUNDED!

Together, our community raised the full $15,000 needed to prepare the site for five new modular homes — bringing affordable housing one big step closer to reality on Orcas Island.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, supported, and believed in this project. This is what community looks like.

Moxie the Modular Mink has entered full “WHY ISN’T THE BAR GREEN YET?!” mode.

She’s been staring at the Lydia Lane donation tracker like it personally offended her.
“Look at it,” she said dramatically.
“It’s SO close. Why are we stopping now?!”

And honestly… she has a point.

We are incredibly close to fully funding Lydia Lane — the future home of FIVE modular houses that will help provide affordable housing right here on Orcas Island.

We just need that final push to turn the donation bar completely green.

So if you’ve been waiting for a sign… this is it.

Moxie the Modular Mink has officially started calling Lydia Lane “the almost-neighborhood.”

Because thanks to this incredible community, we are VERY close to fully funding FIVE future affordable homes for island families.

Right now, Lydia Lane is full of possibilities:
Future front porches
Future bike rides
Future family dinners
Future neighbors

And today is the FINAL day of GiveOrcas.

After an amazing Benjamin Franklin Day, Lydia Lane is now just steps away from being fully funded — and Moxie has become emotionally attached to the phrase “final stretch.” 🐾

Moxie the Modular Mink has started reading Benjamin Franklin… and now she’s wandering around Lydia Lane quoting him like a tiny founding father.

This morning she stopped, looked across the future home sites and declared:
“Well done is better than well said.”

And honestly? She has a point.

Lydia Lane is no longer just an idea on paper. Five modular homes are coming soon, but before the homes arrive, the site itself needs to be ready: utilities, infrastructure and groundwork all need to be completed. OPAL is raising $15,000 to help make that happen.

Then Moxie spotted Benjamin Franklin on the $100 bill and gasped dramatically.
“Of course it’s a hundred,” she said. “That’s the number today.”

Today during GiveOrcas, every $100+ donation helps organizations compete for bonus funding prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250.

As Benjamin Franklin (and now apparently Moxie) says:

Moxie the Modular Mink spent WAY too long staring at the Lydia Lane site map today… and honestly? She’s getting excited.

“See those orange lots?” Moxie squeaked. “That’s where FIVE new OPAL homes are coming!”

Right now, the streets are quiet, the plot lines are marked and the groundwork will start — but soon those empty spaces will become kitchens, dinner tables, muddy boots by the door and kids riding bikes between neighbors.

Moxie especially loves that Lydia Lane will connect NEW homes with EXISTING OPAL and HFI neighborhoods already filled with island families and community life.

Fun Modular Fact from Moxie: Modular homes arrive in pieces, kind of like giant building blocks… except WAY heavier and with fewer snack breaks. 🐾

We still need more donors to help get Lydia Lane ready before the homes arrive on island. Every gift helps move these little house icons on the map one step closer to becoming real homes for real families.

This morning, Moxie the Modular Mink stopped by Lydia Lane… and waited.

The homes aren’t here yet, but the site is getting ready for them. Soon, five new energy-efficient modular homes designed by Environmental Works and built by West Coast Homes will arrive on Orcas Island for local families.

Right now, OPAL is raising $15,000 to help prepare the site with infrastructure, utilities and final groundwork before the homes land.

And today is GiveOrcas Unique Donor Day!
That means every single donor helps unlock bonus grant funding, no matter the gift size.

Moxie loved meeting so many amazing island organizations, but her FAVORITE part was talking about Lydia Lane to curious neighbors asking questions about OPAL’s new modular home project.
