C.G. Jung Club of Orange County

C.G. Jung Club of Orange County The C.G. Jung Club of Orange County is an all-volunteer non-profit organization established in 1974.

The Club provides quality educational programs designed to promote the study, discussion and understanding of Jungian Psychology, also known as Analytical Psychology. The Club also has an extensive Jungian Library (including a complete set of Jung's Collected Works) for members-only use.

The Club’s programs elaborate and amplify the ideas of C.G. Jung by exploring diverse perspectives of Jungi

an Psychology, as well as a wide range of subjects studied by Jung and his followers, such as mythology and comparative religion. We seek to understand the human psyche through the psychological theories and therapeutic methods pioneered by C.G. Jung and the current use of Jungian concepts by contemporary Jungian analysts. The programs are directed toward the interests of mental health practitioners, individuals from related disciplines, and the general public.

The Club began presenting its programs online via Zoom free of charge in September 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has transformed the Club, allowing it to present speakers from all over the world and to expand its audience, and so the Club is continuing on this new path. While avoiding many of the expenses required for in-person programs, the Club continues to incur other organizational costs. Therefore, it asks those who attend the on-line programs to please consider becoming a member or making a donation so that the Club can continue offering programs free of charge.

It is with the greatest sadness that we share news of the passing of Lionel Corbett who presented the program "Understanding Evil" to us, so recently, on May 18, 2025. Lionel was a gentle, scholarly Jungian who contributed in very deep ways to our community.

Over the years, Lionel presented eight programs to our Club, beginning in 1997. He was first scheduled to present "Understanding Evil" to us back in June 2024 and had to postpone due to side effects of chemotherapy. It was rescheduled for July 2024 and again had to be postponed for the same reasons. Finally he presented it this past May and it felt like it was meant to be postponed, first because of its increased relevance due to Trump's presidency, and now because it feels like it was our good-bye with him.

We have audio recordings of his first 6 programs with us, back from when we met in person. And we have video recordings of his last 2 programs, in 2022 and 2025, after we had moved to Zoom.

Our audio recordings are all on our Soundcloud channel https://soundcloud.com/junginoc where we have even created a Lionel Corbett playlist with the 6 audio recordings.

Our video recordings are all on our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/ where we have also created a Lionel Corbett playlist with the 2 videos.

Due to illness of the speaker, Sabine Mayer-Patzel, the program scheduled for this Sunday, October 20, on "Dragon Baby and Riding the Dragon," has unfortunately been canceled and will be rescheduled in June 2025.

The new date in June will appear soon on our web site www.junginoc.org, and announcements of the program with the new date will appear in May 2025.

Continuing Education registration fees will be refunded.

Our Story

The Club was established in 1974 and most recently updated its Articles of Association and Bylaws in 2015. Its purpose is to promote an interest in, and understanding of, Jungian Psychology and to cultivate a collegial environment in which participants can experience personal development and growth. Each year it sponsors a Jungian Conference and a number of public lectures. Other offerings include workshops, informal presentations, and one or more members-only events. Events are held at St. Wilfred of York Episcopal Church in Huntington Beach, unless otherwise noted. The Club also has an extensive Jungian Library (including a complete set of Jung's Collected Works) for member-only use.
