California BBQ Association We're just a bunch of down-home folk, a lot like you. Our members share an interest in barbecue in a wide variety of ways. Others just enjoy the ambiance.

We're carpenters, salesmen, business men and women, home-makers, lawyers, plumbers, engineers and about every other profession in between. We're a diverse group that has one thing in common -- we enjoy real barbecue, fun and sharing “Q” with new friends. We formed a club called the California Barbecue Association ("CBBQA"), a non-profit tax-exempt corporation to benefit needy children. We’re run b

y our members, our finances are open, and no one gets paid – we volunteer because we enjoy BBQ, enjoy sharing it with our friends, old and new, and use our love of BBQ as a way to help needy children in many ways -- with picnics, parties, fund raisers, and other events. Many are backyard novices and students, eager to learn new techniques and styles. Others enjoy the thrill of competition, entering cook-offs. Many learn regional styles and the nuances of flavor, and they volunteer as certified judges at sanctioned contests.

🚨 New Resource for Contest & Event Organizers! 🚨

The California BBQ Association is excited to introduce a new Event Submission Form for contest and event organizers who would like to have their event featured on the CBBQA Event Calendar.

This new process helps ensure that all submitted events are reviewed for compliance with the CBBQA Charter, policies, and guidelines, creating a consistent and reliable calendar for our members and the BBQ community.

If you're planning a BBQ contest or event and would like it promoted on the CBBQA website, be sure to complete the new submission form found on the Event page under the "Submit an Event" link.

Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming BBQ 102 Competition Cooking Class scheduled for March 28th in Vacaville, CA due to low registration.

We sincerely apologize to everyone who planned to attend and to those who helped support and promote the class. We truly appreciate the interest and enthusiasm for competition BBQ.

Our goal is to bring this class back later this year, and we hope to reschedule when we can ensure a great experience for both attendees and our award-winning instructors.

🔥 BBQ 102 SoCal Class Recap 🔥

What an incredible day at our BBQ 102 class at The Woodshed this weekend. We had 18 students join us to learn how award-winning pitmasters approach competition BBQ — from trimming and seasoning to cooking and saucing.

We walked through the four meats used in KCBS competitions:

🔥 Chicken
🔥 Pork Ribs
🔥 Pork Butt
🔥 Brisket

Whether students came to learn competition BBQ or just improve their backyard cooks, everyone left with new knowledge, new friends, and some seriously good BBQ.

Huge thank you to our pitmasters who shared their time, experience, and passion for BBQ, and to all the students who came ready to learn.

Also, huge thanks to our site host The Woodshed for the hospitality, coffee, donuts, and beverages, as well as our brisket sponsor for sending us a beautiful SRF Gold brisket to demo and cook for the students.

The BBQ community continues to grow and we love being part of helping the next generation of pitmasters get started.
