PUBLIC SAFETY STANDS UNITED FOR ORANGE
Orange City Firefighters Local 2384 and the City of Orange Police Association (COPA) proudly endorse YES on Measures I and J.
We understand that asking the community to pay more is never easy. That is why we want residents and businesses to have clear, factual information about what these measures mean.
Orange is facing a projected $27.6 million budget deficit. Continued reductions affect more than public safety, they affect the streets, parks, infrastructure and essential services our entire community relies on.
Measure I establishes a temporary one-cent local sales tax. It is estimated to generate approximately $37 million annually, expires after 13 years and includes independent financial oversight and public reporting. The revenue will remain locally controlled and be deposited into the City’s General Fund for Orange programs and services.
Measure J updates the hotel guest tax from 10% to 14% for hotels with 11 or more rooms and applies it to online travel companies. It is estimated to generate approximately $3 million annually. Orange residents will not pay this tax unless they choose to stay in a local hotel.
Together, these measures would provide approximately $40 million annually to help maintain reliable emergency response, police and fire protection, safe parks, streets, infrastructure and other essential City services.
Our support is about more than police and fire. It is about the safety, stability and long-term well-being of Orange’s residents, businesses and neighborhoods.
Vote YES on Measures I and J on November 3.
