Santiago Creek Greenway Alliance

Santiago Creek Greenway Alliance SCGA is a local non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of the Santiago Creek and trail

The Santiago Creek Greenway Alliance is a local non-profit organization dedicated to the establishment of a greenway and recreational trail system along the general course of Santiago Creek. The greenway with largely native trees and shrubs will restore much of the natural beauty and wildlife habitat that once existed along the creek. The trail system within or adjacent to the greenway will connec

t the Santa Ana River Regional Trail on the west to Santiago Oaks and Irvine Regional Parks on the east. It will link five city parks within the cities of Orange and Santa Ana and provide off-road access to the existing trails in Anaheim Hills and to the Peters Canyon Regional Trail east of Orange.

Help Santiago Creek Greenway Alliance remove crown daisy from Santiago Creek at the east end of Hart Park (Shaffer Street immediately south of La Veta) this Saturday at 8am (2 hour duration). Using hand clippers, we will cut the plant at its base snipping off and bagging its seed heads and leaving the rest of the plant to decompose in the creek bed. Although crown daisy with its showy, yellow flowers is attractive, it is a highly invasive plant which many land managers in Orange County work to keep out of waterways.

Please wear closed-toed shoes, gloves, long pants, hat, and sunscreen. Also, bring water and (if you have them) hand clippers or scissors.

It was an outstanding collaborative effort in celebration of Earth Month this Saturday morning.

More than 50 volunteers came together to remove over one ton of trash from the Santiago Creek area below Grijalva Park.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Orange High School ROTC, Chapman University, UC Irvine, Scout Pack 850, Orange Sustainability, Naturalist For You, Hiking On Purpose, Mayor Dan Slater, We Explore Earth, and the City of Orange for their partnership and support.

These dedicated groups joined the Santiago Creek Greenway Alliance for our monthly cleanup, demonstrating the power of community in preserving our local environment.

We invite you to join the Santiago Creek Greenway Alliance as we continue our efforts at Yorba Park next month, Saturday, May 9th, for our next cleanup event.

Help Santiago Creek Greenway Alliance remove crown daisy from Santiago Creek at the east end of Hart Park (Shaffer Street immediately south of La Veta) this Saturday, April 4, at 8am (2 hour duration). We will be pulling the entire plant (they are easy to pull) while snipping off and placing in green waste bags the flower/seed heads and discarding the rest of the plant to decompose in the creek bed. Crown daisy is a highly invasive plant which many land managers in Orange County work to keep out of waterways.

Please wear closed-toed shoes, gloves, long pants, hat, and sunscreen. Also, bring water and (if you have them) hand clippers.

What a great day to be in the creek! Special thanks to Orange High ROTC and mayor dan for caring so much for our creek.
