Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster. (Boys also may become Boy Scouts if they have earned the Cub Scouting Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old and have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10 years old.)

Our neighbors are in need and you can help!

If you received a door hanger this week, please consider putting out a bag of non perishable items Saturday morning for pickup.

If you didn't get a door hanger and need pickup Saturday please contact Scoutmaster Glenn at 540-672-8974.

If you can make a drop off, please consider dropping off directly at Love Outreach Food Pantry.

Together we can help bridge the gap of food insecurity in our community!

We have two scouts who passed their Eagle Scout Board of Reviews last night!

🎉Congratulations to both Hunter and Michael!!🎉

The Eagle Scout Board of Review is formal conversation to discuss a Scout's experience and confirm they have met all the requirements for Eagle Scout rank.

Although sometimes nerves may create the impression this is similar to a job interview or retest, it is truly a celebration of accomplishments and a chance to talk about what the Scout has learned. During this we discuss everything from what merit badges were the most challenging to which part of the Scout Law you live everyday (sometimes even unconsciously).

As Tracey Grapes Stakem said last night "Scouting is a safe place to fail". We discuss the risks, the missteps, the new learned life lessons as a way to celebrate how the Scout has grown from when they first joined the troop to now.

Both Michael and Hunter have worked incredibly hard in their Eagle Scout journey and as a troop I do not think we could be prouder!

Do a Good Turn Daily, Be Prepared, and we will see you at your Court of Honor!!

🦅Hunter just finished his Eagle Scout Project🦅

Something I can say for these aspiring Eagles is their projects always evolve into more, but that is the true spirit of community service.

This project started off as replacing the roof on a shed for a local church and evolved into replacing not just the roof, but the chalkboard on the playground, and fixing the gate. Not to mention that fresh coat of paint!

Congrats Hunter- you are one step closer to Eagle!

🦅What is an Eagle Scout Project?

An Eagle Scout project is a leadership-driven community service project that a Scout plans, develops, and leads to benefit an organization other than Scouting.

Scouts must demonstrate leadership by organizing others and making a significant effort to complete the project, which can involve construction, landscaping, or organizing an event, and must be approved through a formal proposal and plan process.

Key requirements include the project benefiting a community entity, the Scout leading the effort, and proper documentation through the official Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook.

Our scouts have successfully completed another Eagle Scout Project! This year's projects include:

🇺🇲 Lindon designed a secure drop-off container for American flags to be retired properly.

🥫 Michael established a food pantry in our local elementary school.

Projects underway:

🛠Hunter is currently working on his Eagle Scout Project (like this weekend😎)

Completing these projects are one of the last steps before becoming an Eagle, and we are so lucky to have so many Eagles coming from Troop 14 this year!
