Safe Kids Orange County, California (SKOC), as a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, is part of a global network of organizations dedicated to preventing accidental childhood injury - the number one cause of death among children ages 18 and under. Led by CHOC Children's, SKOC is one of 600 grassroots coalitions across the United States that bring together health and safety experts, police, firefighters
, paramedics, doctors, nurses, teachers, business owners, lawmakers, foundations, corporations, and community volunteers to protect children and families. Although there is no single device or solution to effectively prevent all types of accidental childhood deaths injuries, we know that up to 90% of accidental injuries can be prevented by educating adults and children, creating safe environments, conducting research, and advocating for effective laws.
