Join QTPOCC (Q***r Trans People of Color Collective) and Club Doc this Tuesday at 5pm in the Student Union for a screening of “The T Word” and “A Place in the Middle," two films that shine a light on what it’s like to live at the intersection of LGBTQ identity and being a person of color. Laverne Cox’s “The T Word” follows several young trans people from across the country at different ages and points in their transitions. “A Place in the Middle” tells the story of Hawaii’s traditional third gender through a young student who wants to dance as a boy and her dance teacher who also lives in the middle. We look forward to seeing you there!

James Ferro is seeking a recent Dodge Film School graduate to film and produce a short, five-to-eight-minute, documentary video highlighting one of several case studies representing community-based, progressive water management strategies for the Water Solutions Network (www.watersolutionsnetwork.org). The Water Solutions Network (“the Network”) will be presenting this film along with a series of policy white papers at the Network’s Summit in November in Los Angeles to members of the incoming California Governor’s Team and other water leaders from across the state. The film will focus on the hero, or champion, and that person’s story as it relates to their pursuit of equitable and sustainable water management as a model for meeting California’s most pressing water challenges.

The Water Solutions Network team will offer a $1,000 stipend and expense reimbursement of up to $500. They have already developed a rough outline of a script and shot sequence, and characters have been contacted or identified for interviews in the San Diego area. The ideal candidate would be available to assist the team with creative production direction and storyboarding support ahead of filming and production.

If interested, please contact James Ferro at [email protected].

A cross-sector collaboration of leaders focused on the future of water management in California.
