On January 19, we celebrated the 100th birthday of our dear friend, Holocaust survivor Natan Gipsman. Surrounded by his family members and with his beautiful wife of nearly 80 years by his side, the room was filled with the sounds of laughter and song - the latter provided by Natan himself as he treated everyone to a short concert of the Yiddish songs he’d grown up singing. It was a truly joyous occasion!

Natan’s Holocaust survivor video testimony, as well as his wife Fela’s and their good friend Regina Lewin’s, are available to view on YouTube.

In honor of Mila Page’s (1920-2020) birthday today, we invite you to explore the Leopold and Ludmila Page collection. Mila Page (Ludmila Pfefferberg) and her husband, Leopold Page (Poldek Pfefferberg), survived the Holocaust with help from Oskar Schindler. We received their collection in 2022, whi...

Leopold Szneer was 16 years old when he was arrested during Kristallnacht and sent to Dachau.

In a new blog post, Oskar Schindler archivist Alec Kirkwood explores interesting finds in the Szneer and Lubenewski family papers and sheds light on their value for both research and visual commemoration.

Learn more by clicking on the link below, and hear more about Cantor Szneer's experiences by attending our Interfaith Service Commemorating Kristallnacht at 7 p.m. on November 7 in the Wallace All Faiths Chapel.

It is with immense sadness we share that pre-eminent scholar and historian, our dear friend, Richard Hovannisian has passed. His contributions to Armenian Studies, his dedication to the recognition of the Armenian genocide, and his commitment to its memory have inspired generations of scholars and thousands of students.

As Marilyn Harran noted, "The world has lost a giant, as a scholar and educator but even more as a human being." He will be greatly missed.
