Loyola Institute for Spirituality

Loyola Institute for Spirituality "Bringing Spirituality to Life" - L.I.S. offers spiritual experiences and religious formation in the Ignatian tradition.

A sponsored ministry of Jesuits West Province. Loyola Institute for Spirituality provides opportunities for growth in spirituality by offering retreats, parish missions, days of prayer, conferences, and ministerial training. In addition to direct services, LIS offers courses and other training opportunities for the purpose of enabling individuals and groups to address their own spiritual needs and

to help others in their spiritual growth. LIS works collaboratively with retreat centers, schools, parishes, dioceses, community and church organizations. LIS works not only with Roman Catholics, but also in an ecumenical and inter-religious manner with people of any or no specific religious tradition. We seek to serve all, giving special attention to the poor and marginal.

Today is the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. Pope Leo announced that this year's theme is "They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks" (Is 2:4). St. Ignatius of Loyola asks us to see God in all things. May we contemplatively look at the natural world with reverence and awe, and strive to protect all of creation from destruction, war, and indifference.

God is calling you to fulfill your unique purpose in life! Our next Called and Gifted Workshop is on September 12th from 9am-2pm in-person at our campus in Orange, CA.

This workshop invites you to discover God's call on your life by identifying your spiritual gifts. One of the tenets of Ignatian spirituality is discernment. Through discernment, we have the opportunity to encounter God personally through the interior movements of our emotions and desires. The Called and Gifted Workshop relies on the process of discernment to identify one’s spiritual gifts. Participants will have the opportunity to gain greater self-awareness and a deepening desire to discover God’s unique call for their lives.

The program is open to all and may be especially helpful if you are…
- in roles of leadership (parish staff, teachers, professionals)
- adjusting to life: job change, empty nest, retirement
- discovering or rediscovering your faith
- parents who want to nurture their child’s spiritual gifts

Retreat to Recharge! Last week, LIS’s Executive Director Lori Stanley led retreats for the faculty and staff of Blessed Sacrament School - Westminster, CA and Holy Family Catholic School. A Catholic grammar school teacher herself for 11 years, Lori guided these retreatants through reflections on each person’s belovedness by God, how each individual can live out their magis in the school community, and more.

If you’re interested in bringing an Ignatian retreat to your school, parish, or organization, reach out to Keira Ferrell at [email protected] for more information and to set up a meeting with Lori Stanley.
