“Behind the Lines” is a documentary that explores the search for extraordinary letters from every American conflict, beginning with handwritten messages composed during the Revolutionary War and continuing through emails sent from Iraq and Afghanistan. Multiple of the letters from the film are preserved in the Center for American War Letters at Chapman University in Leatherby Libraries.

The documentary is preparing for its release on October 22 on Apple and Amazon, and we are proud to acknowledge the many Chapman faculty, alumni, and community members who were a part of this collection and documentation of our nation’s history. We are excited to share that four artworks from the Escalette Permanent Art Collection are currently on display in the Marta Herford Museum in Germany! 🖼️🌏 This exhibition celebrates the intersection of Southern California art and architecture and explores the notion of creative freedom.
