Orange Community Action Association (OCAA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for the older adults in the Orange, Texas community. We operate a “Meals on Wheels” program that serves approximately 350 seniors per day and have 4 Senior Meal Centers throughout the community. We also operate 2 Transportation Services to help the people in our community get where th
ey need to go. OCAA receives funding through Title III Grants (the Older American Act) the Department of Aging and Disability Services, the United Way of Orange County, local service organizations, contributions from our seniors for meals and private donations from individuals and local companies. OCAA’s goal is to improve of the quality of life for the older adults in our community and to encourage an active lifestyle. We strive to ensure continuity of care, while allowing them to remain in their own homes, thus maintaining independence and dignity. The OCAA's Senior Meal Centers serve anyone 60 years of age and older, regardless of race, s*x, religion, or income level. In addition to lunch, participants share social and recreational activities and receive additional benefits such as nutrition education, health and welfare counseling, information and referral services. We operate a Nutrition Transportation Program that brings participants to and from the Orange Senior Center and also to limited places within the City of Orange to anyone 60 years of age or older who resides within the City of Orange. Individuals are asked to contribute based on their ability to pay; however, no eligible person will be denied a meal based on their refusal or inability to pay. OCAA also operates a South East Texas Transit (SETT) Transportation Program. SETT is a curb-to-curb service providing public transportation to residents of the Orange community. If you live in Orange, SETT will pick you up at your driveway and take you to any type of destination – school, work, shopping, public services, health care facilities, grocery stores, places for entertainment, and more! When you are ready to leave your destination, SETT will pick you up and bring you back home. Transportation is available anywhere in the City of Orange and to limited destinations in the surrounding community. The SETT service is available to anyone living in the City of Orange, West Orange or Pinehurst, regardless of age or income. There are no special requirements or qualifications needed and all vehicles are wheelchair accessible.
