Words can’t describe how days like this feel without you. You were my Cupid 💘. Valentine’s Day was one of your favorites. You were all about love and caring for those near and dear to you. One year ago today I felt your lips on mine for the last time. One year ago today I looked into your beautiful eyes for the last time. There hasn't been one day since we laid you to rest that I don’t think of you. You continue to be a part of my daily life.

I look around our home and smile, followed by tears of joy and sorrow. I smile because I have no regrets. We lived life as best as we knew how to. Living everyday like it was our last. I feel sorrow because it doesn’t feel real that you are no longer by my side. I feel sad because we won’t be growing old together. You always said you wanted to be the cute old couple that people would look at and say “look at those two, still in love after all these years”.

Waking up alone, having meals alone, doing life alone just isn’t fair. But I refuse to forget you. My weekly visits to see you aren’t easy, but necessary. Necessary because they remind me of how much love we had for each other. I know if the tables were turned, you would be doing the same thing. As I sit at home writing this post with tears in my eyes, I look around me and feel your presence. I can hear your sweet voice tell me, “I will never leave you, you will never be alone” as you would often tell me when I felt down and out. The amazing part of all of this is, that I believe it. I can feel you in my soul.

I can go on talking about how much you influence my life even to this day.

I miss you and love you Janell.

One year ago today at 8:56AM I stood over you and had to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I made sure to honor your wishes to let you go and be with the lord. A huge part of my soul left that day as well.

The amazing life we lived and built together would change forever. There isn’t a day I don’t speak about you. I think of you always. I feel your presence everywhere I go. I know you watch over our daughter Kylie and I’m sure you are bursting with pride watching her thrive. Your influence in who she has become is undeniable.

Our beautiful dogs keep me busy. I love them and take care of them in the same way you taught me. Our home remains a place full of momentos that remind me of how amazing life can be with the right person. I smile and cry often thinking of you.

Today we will celebrate you. We continue to keep your legacy alive by doing the things that remind us of your beautiful soul. We take comfort knowing that your presence is always near us.

Kylie and I decided to upload the video Kylie made of us during your service. We wanted to share it with friends and family as a reminder of how beautiful life can be.

Greetings from the Figueroa Family.

On behalf of Janell and the rest of our family we hope that you and your families had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Since our beautiful Janell's passing, our lives have been full of happy and challenging times that continue to come into our lives. But we are blessed to have an amazing supportive group of family and friends around us.

We have spent the past few months reflecting on the memories that we are so thankful to have been spent with Janell. As most of you are already aware, Janell was all about her family and fur babies whom she loved dearly. One of the upcoming projects that she was excited to start was a family website where she would be able to post in a blog style about all the exciting things that we had done and were planning to do as a family. With her passing, she wasn’t able to fulfill that wish.

To honor her wishes we are happy to announce the launching of The Janell Figueroa Foundation. Encompassing her love for life, her passion to give back to her community and that special sparkle she added to all she did.

Our goal with Janell’s foundation is to organize various projects-campaigns where we can honor Janell in the ways of giving and spreading the love for things that she valued in her life and her community.

Our first project in the month of December will be in honor of her beloved fur babies, by donating Christmas dog pajamas. We will be accepting donations through the website via Zelle as well as options to buy on your own to donate to local dog shelters and other organizations on behalf of Janell’s foundation.

If you wish to buy dog pajamas for us to donate through the foundation, please contact us to make those arrangements. We will provide live updates through our social media pages for this fundraiser and future projects.

If you would like to share photos, videos, or a story of how Janell touched your life please visit our website. We will share these across our social media pages. We want Janell’s legacy to be shared with the community that she loved and with those who loved her.
