The Clay County Bar Association's 2026 Law Day celebration is quickly approaching. As we celebrate this year's theme, The Rule of Law and the American Dream, please join us on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Thrasher-Horne Center in Orange Park. The doors will open at 11:00 a.m. and the program will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m.

We have a wonderful program planned and lunch will be provided. We are honored to announce that our keynote speaker will be The Honorable Marcia Morales Howard, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Kindly RSVP by April 10, 2026 to secure your seat. If you are a member, this event is included in your membership. Guest tickets are $65.00 per person and can be purchased online.

Sponsorship of Law Day not only supports this important civic event, but also helps the Clay County Bar Association continue its community outreach, educational programs, and initiatives throughout the year. Sponsors receive valuable recognition among the legal and business communities while demonstrating a meaningful commitment to the rule of law and our local community. Table reservations will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of payment and in accordance with sponsorship level. Good afternoon everyone,

We wanted to share a quick update regarding the All Bar Event that is scheduled for this evening at the Duval County Courthouse. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Clay County Bar Association will no longer be attending the All Bar Event. CCBA members are still welcome to attend, but please note that there may be an entry fee.

We appreciate your understanding and will share information about future opportunities to gather with our colleagues in the coming weeks. Thank you and we hope to see you soon at our upcoming Clay County Bar Association events.

4TH CIRCUIT JNC ANNOUNCES LIST OF NOMINEES FOR FOURTH CIRCUIT COURT JUDICIAL VACANCY

Earlier today, the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Fourth Judicial Circuit interviewed eight (8) applicants to fill the second of two vacancies on the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Bench as a result of the enactment of SB 2508. Following deliberations and thoughtful consideration of each applicant, the Commission nominates the following individuals (in alphabetical order and without any preference) to Gov. Ron DeSantis:

Marquita Greene
Jenny Higginbotham
Nicole Saunders

The Commission sincerely thanks the members of the bench, bar, and public who took time to provide feedback about the applicants. A certified list of nominees will be provided to the Governor at a later date, as FDLE background checks are still in progress.

As a result of the enactment of SB 2508, there is one (1) new judicial position that has been created in the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court. Gov. Ron DeSantis has asked the Fourth Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission to provide him with highly qualified nominees for that position.
The Commission received eight (8) applications and will interview the applicants on Fri., Nov. 14, 2025, in accordance with the following schedule:

4TH CIRCUIT JNC ANNOUNCES CIRCUIT AND COUNTY JUDICIAL VACANCIES

As a result of the enactment of SB 2508, there are four (4) new judicial positions that have been created in the Fourth Judicial Circuit. Gov. Ron DeSantis has asked the Fourth Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission to provide him with highly qualified nominees for the two positions for which interviews have not been conducted: (1) A Fourth Judicial Circuit vacancy, and (2) a Nassau County Court vacancy.

Complete unredacted and redacted applications (see below for more information) for these vacancies must be received before 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, via e-mail to Chanda Rogers at: [email protected].

Applications may be downloaded from the Governor’s website.

Interviews for the Nassau County Court vacancy will be held on Thur., Nov. 13, 2025, at the Historic Courthouse located at 416 Centre Street, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.

Interviews for the Fourth Judicial Circuit vacancy will be held on Fri., Nov. 14, 2025, at the Duval County Courthouse.

Neither incomplete applications nor applications submitted after the deadline will be considered. Further, all applicants must meet the qualifications for judges outlined in Article V, Section 8 of the Florida Constitution.

Personal information not subject to public disclosure should be redacted on a separate copy of the application as permitted by Section 119.071 of the Florida Statutes. Please also e-mail a digital photo with the applications. To assist the commission, all questions on the application must be fully and completely answered. Applications must include current contact information (especially direct phone numbers), including e-mail addresses for judges, co- counsel, opposing counsel, and references to facilitate the background investigation that will be conducted by the members of the Commission.

All proceedings of this Judicial Nominating Commission are open to the public except for deliberations. Accordingly, applicants should not expect their application to be kept confidential.

If an applicant is nominated, all materials attached to the original application will be submitted to the Executive Office of the Governor.

If there are any questions about the application process, please contact Chanda L. Rogers at the number above. Applicants shall not initiate contact with the Commissioners until the nominees are submitted to the Governor unless questions pertain to the application process only.
