Operation Barnabas Inc. A combat veteran founded non-profit ministry committed to assisting veterans and first responders

09/02/2026

🎣 SEPTEMBER IS FULL. OCTOBER & NOVEMBER ARE NEXT. 🇺🇸

That first sentence is worth celebrating.

Our September veteran retreat in Sebastian, Florida is completely booked—another group of veterans and operators stepping away from everyday life and into something built around brotherhood, healing, purpose and hope.

Because this has never really been about fishing.

The fishing gets them there.

What happens when they get there is the mission.

These retreats bring veterans together with other veterans, mentors and experts for honest conversations about brain health, PTSD, stress, physical health, faith, identity and life after service—surrounded by people who understand the battles that aren't always visible.

And every veteran attends 100% FREE.

🔥 NEXT UP: OCTOBER 15-18, 2026— SNEADS FERRY, NC

Five local charter captains.
12 guest speakers.
Inshore fishing.
Veteran testimonies.
Mentorship.
Brotherhood.
Faith.
And three organizations coming together around one mission:

SPEARiT Veteran Spearfishing Project + Hooks of Hope + Operation Barnabas Inc.

Then we're doing it again in NOVEMBER 5-8, 2026 in SEBASTIAN, FL.

🇺🇸 VETERANS: There are still opportunities to join an upcoming retreat.

🤝 BUSINESSES & DONORS: Sponsor a veteran, fund a seat, or partner with us to keep these retreats completely free.

👊 EVERYONE ELSE: Share this.

The veteran who needs to see it may be someone you know.

THIS is what restoration looks like.

Not a statistic.
Not a program.
Not a success story polished for social media.

A life restored. A marriage strengthened. A purpose rediscovered. A man once again pouring into the warriors coming behind him.

Yesterday, the wife of our founder wrote these words about her husband:

“Today is so super sweet. It also makes me giggle just a little.

It is ABSOLUTELY wild and I don’t even think you realize that 10 years ago on this day, you had been a civilian for 10 days.

10 years and 10 days later, Gunnery Sergeant Fagan is speaking at ‘The Storied Warfighter’ in front of a whole bunch of people, including a younger generation of MARSOC Marines at the same command that you retired from.

The reason why is simple, in my opinion. You are an incredible example. As a man, a husband, a Dad, a Marine, and an absolute warrior.

You are the baddest dude on the planet and I love being your wife. This part of marriage is my favorite part so far. We’ve learned that we are different, that we need not take things for granted, and the foundation of our marriage is our faith.

Seeing you being honored in these ways is something that you have deserved for such a long time. I am so proud of you, babe.

I am so sad that I can’t make it today. I can’t wait to hear all about it. I love you so much. 🖤”

We know Trey for his humility so he won't love us highlighting him like this.

But this isn't really about highlighting him.

It's about the person reading this who needs to know that where you are today does not have to be where your story ends.

Ten years can change a lot.

Lives can be rebuilt.
Marriages can grow stronger.
Purpose can return.
Faith can become the foundation.
And the very places connected to some of your hardest chapters can one day become places where your story gives hope to someone coming behind you.

This is what restoration is about. This is what Barnabas has always been about.

Walking alongside veterans and first responders long enough to remind them that God is not finished writing their story.

If you're struggling right now, please don't mistake this chapter for the whole book.

And if you know a veteran, first responder, spouse, friend, or family member who has begun to believe that things will never change—

If it reaches just one person who needs to believe that restoration is possible, it's worth it.

Your story isn't over. There is hope.

A roof can provide shelter. But it takes more than a roof to rebuild a life.

RAP is about stability. Accountability. Mentorship. Community. Faith. And a path forward.

We don't do the work for veterans. We walk beside them while they do it.

🇺🇸 A hand up. Not a handout.

Sometimes, restoration looks like a brand-new beginning. And sometimes, it looks like giving away a bedroom set that is no longer needed.

This ordinary bedroom set was donated to Operation Barnabas because a marriage has been restored. ❤️ What was once needed because of a separation can now become part of a new beginning for someone else.

The bedroom set will go into one of our RAP apartments, helping provide a safe, welcoming unit as a veteran’s life is restored.

That’s the beautiful thing about restoration: when one life is put back together, the blessing can overflow into another.

One marriage restored.
One bedroom repurposed.
One veteran given a place to begin again.

This is what hope looks like. This is what community looks like. This is Operation Barnabas. 🇺🇸

🚨 COMMUNITY & CONNECTION IS GROWING! 🇺🇸

Isolation is one of the battles too many veterans and first responders fight alone.

We’re doing something about it.

We’re excited to announce a NEW Community & Connection (C&C) location in Sanford, Florida! C&C is a place to get out of the house, get around people who understand, build real relationships, and find the kind of community that reminds you:

You were never meant to fight alone.

📍 NEW — SANFORD
Central Church of Sanford
3101 State Highway 46
Sanford, FL 32771
📅 Every Thursday
⏰ 6:30–7:45 PM

And Sanford joins our growing C&C network:

📍 ORLANDO — SAND LAKE
Discovery Church
881 Sand Lake Road, Suite 811
Orlando, FL 32809
📅 Every Monday
⏰ 6:30–7:45 PM

📍 ORANGE PARK
Church of Eleven22
317 Blanding Blvd.
Orange Park, FL 32073
📅 Every Tuesday
⏰ 6:30–7:45 PM

AND WE’RE NOT DONE. 🔥

Coming soon:
➡️ Nassau County, Florida
➡️ New Orleans, Louisiana

And right now, we are specifically praying for the right church, leaders, and volunteers to help us launch a C&C in CENTRAL JACKSONVILLE. 🙏

Community & Connection isn't about another meeting on the calendar. It's about creating a place where veterans and first responders can belong, build relationships, encourage one another, and battle isolation together.

No one should have to carry the weight alone.

⛪ CHURCHES: Could your church become a home for Community & Connection?

🙋 VOLUNTEERS: Could you help us build a community where veterans and first responders know they belong?

📞 Call Operation Barnabas at 904-788-5926.

Help us spread the word. SHARE THIS POST—because someone in your community may need exactly what happens when people simply show up for one another.

Relationship before resources.
Community before crisis.
A hand up—not a handout.

Most people will never see this part of the mission.

They won’t see the hours spent inside jail walls.
The rides given when someone has nowhere else to turn.
The calls answered when a life is falling apart.
The one-on-one conversations that become turning points.
The books and resources placed into the hands of veterans hungry for a different life.
The mentoring that continues long after someone walks out of a jail cell.
The quiet work of helping veterans rebuild their lives, their families, and their futures.
The prayers whispered when nobody else is around.
The conversations that don’t make it into a Facebook photo.

And that’s okay.

Because some of the most important work at Operation Barnabas happens where there is no spotlight and no applause.

It looks like Julius, Coop, Javon, and Jeff walking into jails and pouring into men most of the world has already written off.

It looks like Vanessa and LaSheana giving themselves to our RAP and mentoring programs—showing up, building relationships, and reminding people that transformation takes more than one conversation.

It looks like Karen and Resia handling books, administration, details, and countless things that simply have to get done for this mission to keep moving.

It looks like James answering the phone and being the voice and face of Barnabas to so many people—listening, encouraging, connecting, and pouring his heart into person after person.

In Orlando, it looks like TJ and Anthony standing alongside James and helping carry that load.

It looks like Jackson, Steve, David, Pete, Elsa, Coach Charles, and Trey—people who are so much more than a board.

They are family.

Then there are the names we can't possibly fit into one post.

Too many mentors to name.

Too many prayer warriors to name.

Too many churches and businesses to name.

Too many people quietly saying, “Whatever is needed, I’m in.”

And there are the champions who keep this mission moving through financial gifts, donated vehicles, resources, connections, and meeting needs most people will never know existed.

This is the unglamorous side of ministry.

No stage.
No spotlight.
No applause necessary.

Just people showing up.

Again.
And again.
And again.

Because lives matter.

Because families matter.

Because the veteran sitting in a jail cell matters.

Because the person on the other end of that phone matters.

Because restoration rarely happens in one dramatic moment. More often, it happens because ordinary people faithfully keep showing up when nobody is watching.

That is Operation Barnabas.

To every staff member, volunteer, mentor, prayer warrior, board member, donor, vehicle donor, partner, and friend who has quietly carried a piece of this mission:

We see you. We thank God for you. And we could not do this without you.

The world may never know everything you do.

But the lives being changed because you showed up?

They will.

200,000 MILES. 🚐❤️

An Operation Barnabas vehicle, nicknamed the "BarnaBUS", crossed the 200,000-mile mark.

But those miles represent so much more than distance.

This vehicle has seen veterans carrie into moments of spiritual warfare, life transformation, healing, and restoration. It has traveled countless roads carrying prayers, hope, encouragement, and the message of Jesus.

Behind those 200,000 miles are stories—lives changed, families strengthened, and relationships restored. There have been hard battles, beautiful victories, and moments where God showed up exactly when He was needed.

The odometer counts miles.

God counts souls.

We’re incredibly grateful for every mile this vehicle has traveled and every life touched along the way.

Despite a broken speedometer and tachometer, here’s to the next mile, the next story, and whatever God has planned next. 🙏

200,000 miles down. The mission continues. ❤️🚐

Another Hooks of Hope Fishing Retreat weekend is in the books—and what a weekend it was! 🎣✝️

We came together for fishing, fellowship, community, and time away from the noise of everyday life. But once again, God had something even greater in store.

Five more men made the decision to publicly declare their faith through baptism! 🙌

Five men stepped into the water surrounded by brothers who prayed over them, encouraged them, and stood beside them as they took this powerful step of faith.

These weekends remind us that it’s about so much more than catching fish. It’s about connection. Community. Healing. Hope. And lives being transformed through Jesus Christ.

And now, we're excited to share what’s coming next…

🎣 Ladies, it’s your turn!

We are beginning plans for our FIRST WOMEN’S FISHING RETREAT! More information will be coming soon, and we cannot wait to see what God has planned for this next chapter.

Thank you to Hooks of Hope, SPEARiT Veteran Spearfishing Project, our volunteers, supporters, mentors, and everyone who helps make these weekends possible. You are helping create places where people can belong, be encouraged, and encounter Christ.

Five baptisms. Five lives. One unforgettable weekend.

To God be the glory! 🙏
