WQI cover crop program is open for another two weeks!! If you haven't signed up yet, please call, or stop in as soon as possible. Sign-up deadline is Sept 18th, which is also the seeding deadline for non-winter hardy cover crop species like oats and radish.

We all have a role to play in protecting soil health and water quality in Iowa. Farmers and landowners can sign up now for Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s cover crop cost-share program. First-time users may receive up to $30/acre while returning farmers can get $20/acre. Sign up at your local USDA Service Center. For more information, visit CleanWaterIowa.org

Secretary Mike Naig announced today the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is again offering state cost-share incentives for using cover crops. The annual program, which is available to eligible first-time users as well as returning participants, is now open for Iowa farmers to begin enrolling their acres that will be seeded this fall.

We had our annual Outdoor Classroom at Oak Grove Park earlier this week. It was a beautiful day, and the local 5th and 6th graders had a great time! Huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped lead sessions.
