Please if you see this Deputy, give him some respect. Not every day is such a grave situation presenting itself to our deputies. His quick thinking undoubtedly saved a life. A sister, an aunt, a mother, and a daughter is alive thanks to his quick response and actions!

Deputy Dominic Barszczewski (Bars jet ski) receives Life Saving Award.

Deputy Dominic Barszczewski was honored with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office Life Saving Award for his commendable actions on October 10th, 2025. He responded to a single-vehicle accident in rural Oquawka, IL, where a car had veered off the road and hit an embankment. The female driver suffered severe ankle injuries resulting in arterial bleeding. Recognizing the critical nature of her condition, Deputy Barszczewski applied tourniquets to both legs, effectively stopping the bleeding. Medical professionals including EMTs, paramedics, and doctors agreed that his prompt intervention was crucial in saving the woman's life.
