The Trail Masters had a successful work session at Frank Jackson this morning. After the state had executed a controlled burn, we were looking forward to doing some management on the azaleas that had contact with the blaze. We were hoping to get some more rain to wash the soot away before we started, but we settled for the little shower that rained down last week. There were 6 members involved with today's work session that entailed pruning azaleas on... of course, The Azalea Trail, and the important part of removal of the brush that we cut. The Trail Masters will be scheduling more work sessions at Frank Jackson State Park as part of our service to the community. For info about joining our club, call 334 488 9572.

The Trail Masters had a great turnout to a work session scheduled by their Trail Boss, William Schofield. There were seven members of the club present, and they worked together while enjoying great fellowship as they focused on a waterside area frequently passed by campers on the trails. Campers passing by this morning were greeted cordially, and shared that they had come from places including Ohio, New York, and Indiana to enjoy their stay at our local state park. The Frank Jackson Trail Masters show our pride in the club, pride in Opp, and pride in the State of Alabama as well as the great nation we live in.

Happy New Year everyone! We are looking forward to another great year of finding enjoyment at our local state park here in Opp, Alabama. The Frank Jackson Trail Masters and the City of Opp have already started working on the annual Independence Day Event. This year's celebration will be Saturday, July 4th and will feature musical performances by recording artist Brandon Norris and another great local musician, Cam Stephens! The City will be providing fireworks, stage and sound equipment and technician, and watermelon slices free to the public! Mark it on your calendar!
