The Opp Historical Society, Inc., is proud to announce that today, Tuesday, January 20th, another delivery of The Opp Cookbook has been made to Body Conscious, owned by Stephanie Rodgers, located on the Florala Highway in Opp, Alabama. A copy of the Opp Cookbook can be purchased at Body Conscious as long as the order of 100 lasts. The cost is $40.00 per cookbook to be paid in cash.

THE OPP COOKBOOK is a fantastic collection of recipes from the kitchens of some of Opp's finest citizens. During a recent visit to the History House, a box of cookbooks were found. The Opp Historical Society has fifteen (15) cookbooks available for purchase of $30.00 each. Please indicate in the comment section if you are interested in buying a cookbook. The first fifteen names will be notified of when the cookbook can be picked up at the History House.

The Opp Historical Society had a meeting on Monday, September 16th at the History House on Whaley Street in Opp. In attendance were Roger Baize, Chuck Patterson, Buddy Pyron, Janice Boothe, Jan Smith, Barbara Tisdale and Anita Ellis. After a delicious meal of home-made Hamburger Soup by Michael Ellis, salad & dip by Barbara Tisdale and Pound Cake by Anita Ellis, Temporary Chairperson, Chuck Patterson, began the business meeting. Several items were discussed and officers were elected: President, Buddy Pyron; Vice President, Trippy McGuire; Treasurer, Roger Baize; Vice Treasurer, Barbara Tisdale; Secretary, Jan Smith and Historian, Trippy McGuire. Membership dues were voted on as follows: Single Person $20.00; Couple $35.00; Lifetime Membership $110.00. A paid membership is valid for one year and is due January 1, 2025. The next meeting will be Monday, October 14, 2024, 11:00 until 1:00. Lunch will be served. Please bring a covered dish of your choice.

Good News!!! The Opp Historical Society has planned a meeting for Monday, September 16th from 11:00 until 1:00 at the History House, 208 N Whaley Street. This is a meeting for anyone interested in the history of Opp. A light lunch will be served and a short business meeting will be conducted. Twenty dollars will pay for a yearly membership if you are interested in joining.

To confirm your attendance for a lunch plate and chair, please contact Barbara Tisdale, (334) 764-2785 or Anita Ellis (334) 764-2685 if you plan to attend the Monday, September 16th meeting.
