And another one!! We are happy to do the work. At the end of 2025 our foundation received its 4th proclamation.

Philanthropy is creating spaces where minds can rest, hearts can heal, and lives can change. Thank you to Vice Mayor Daniela Jean of North Miami Beach for recognizing the DRT Brain Love Foundation, Inc and our mental wellness initiatives, programming and services.
I am grateful to have a giving spirit. Christianity itself is built on the biggest act of giving. A giving spirit isn’t just about money—it’s about:
• Giving time
• Giving compassion
• Giving presence
• Giving grace
• Giving resources when able
Giving is how love shows up in real life.

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
— Proverbs 11:25

The DRT Behavioral Services staff came together this Mother’s Day with joy, love, and sisterhood. We shared a beautiful beachside brunch filled with laughter, gratitude, and the kind of moments that remind us why community matters most.

Thank you to for helping bring it all together — it was truly a beautiful time. Big thanks to Dr. Delvena for creating space for us to pause and pour into each other. And of course, the delicious eats made the day even sweeter.

REPOST FROM UDONIS HALSEM FOUNDATION

Hope For Tomorrow: Our Child and Teen Su***de Prevention Summit was a huge success! We couldn’t be more grateful to our partners, sponsors, and attendees for their help in bringing this vision to life.

A special thank you to and for co-presenting this event with us and for hosting us.

We had over 200 guests join us at Miami Dade College, North Campus to address the crisis of child and teen su***des.

This impactful event brought the community together to offer valuable resources, workshops and supportive activities to normalize conversation around serious mental health topics. Through meaningful discussions, sound therapy, personal anecdotes, breakout sessions, and mindfulness exercises, we created a safe space for learning, connection, and hope.

A few more notes of gratitude to our event MC our incredible community resource organizations (tagged in our previous spotlight post), all of our amazing breakout session leaders .a.l.m , our amazing speakers and panel members, and our generous sponsors , and our in-kind sponsors , and Charleston’s Island Delacacies

TODAY is WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY. Cheers to mental WELLNESS 🥂 and prayers to those affected by Mother Nature 🙏🏾

World Mental Health Day, marked annually on 10 October, aims to raise awareness of mental health issues and encourage efforts to support those experiencing mental health issues.

I’d like to take this time to recognize the individuals who shared their time and energy on Saturday with my foundation, the DRT Brain Love Foundation, and the Udonis Haslem Foundation. We brought together mental health experts and wellness specialists to discuss su***des and depression amongst our children and teens. Big group discussions, interviews, breakout groups for the children, a sound bath, and so much more occurred on Saturday. Thank you to Miami Dade College - North Campus Miami Dade College for partnering with us and hosting this endeavor. Your team was SUPERB! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 We had the best MC/comedian ever - Jawan Strader 🤣

Brain Love...A Way Of Life

In the United States alone, someone commits su***de every 40 seconds. By the time you finish reading this page, someone will have killed themselves. In fact, over 800,000 people are dying every year from committing su***de. Depression and anxiety are the most common medical problems worldwide, both illnesses affect people from all walks of life, and both could be treated and even prevented with an increase in awareness and advocacy. Studies have shown that people with mental illness die younger than those who do not have a mental health disorder, they go to prison more often, and have higher rates of drug use.

My name is Dr. Delvena Thomas, and I am a board-certified Psychiatrist practicing in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I am also a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and a Veteran of Foreign Wars who has completed three tours of duty (Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait) who’s provided mental health care for soldiers needing help with stress reduction and therapy, family connectedness, and spiritual well-being. In addition, I worked for seven years in federal law enforcement for the Bureau of Prisons.

The DRT Brain Love Foundation was created out of the desire to advocate for a culturally sensitive and holistic approach to mental and behavioral health for disadvantaged individuals by encompassing awareness, education, prevention, and treatment modalities to improve the quality of life.

All donations to the DRT Brain Love Foundation will be used to promote sound mental wellness for all individuals despite their race, color, or creed. No one should have to suffer in silence!
