Help for Today ~ Hope for Tomorrow

Office & Social Services: Mon–Thu: 9 am–5 pm

Thrift Store: Mon–Thu: 9 am–6 pm, Sun: 1 pm–5 pm, Fri & Sat: CLOSED

Donation Dock: Mon, Tue, Thu: 8 am–9 pm, Wed: 8 am–5 pm, Fri: 9 am–3 pm, Sat: CLOSED, Sun: 12 pm – 9 pm Provided programs and services include:

Direct Assistance/Case Management—We offer food, clothing, furniture, and household items based on need

as supplies are available; financial assistance with utilities, rent and prescriptions; referrals to other area agencies that serve specialized needs; and advocation for client needs with other agencies and organizations. Gifts for Jesus—New toys, household items, clothing, and personal care products donated by area individuals, groups, and churches throughout the year are kept ready to assist clients. Stock Their Lockers—New backpacks, pencils, paper, crayons, glue sticks, and other school supplies necessities are donated to the Center. We then distribute them to families who request help or who are referred by area teachers so that those kids don't have to start the school year with a disadvantage. Community Involvement—A network of partnerships with area charities, churches, and individuals helps the Center function as a safety net for people in crisis in this area. Disaster Response—During times of national disasters, the Samaritan Center serves as a collection point for funds and donated goods when requested by Adventist Community Services. The Center works closely with the disaster response coordinator of the Georgia-Cumberland Conference in responding to disasters both in our local area and nationally as needed. Thrift Shops—Clothing, furniture and household items are made available at low prices to those on tight budgets. Clients who need assistance with these items "shop" with gift certificates given to them by case workers after an evaluation process. In this way, their dignity is preserved, and they retain the ability to make choices about their situation. Volunteer Opportunities—Opportunities exist for volunteers to work in all aspects of the Center's mission.

Remembering your worth isn’t always easy, but every single person has purpose and value woven right into who they are. Keep standing confident. You are deeply valued, carefully created, and never an accident.

Huge thank you to TruBlue of Chattanooga and Senior Helpers of Chattanooga for putting on our very first Aging into Wellness event last Thursday, and to everyone who came out! It was great diving into practical ways to prepare your home for aging.🏡❤

If you missed this one, mark your calendar for the next session:
🗓 October 15th | 6:00 - 7:00 PM
📍 Community Corner
💡 Topic: Understanding Daily Living Skills

We’ll talk through how daily activities reflect independence and when it might make sense to bring in some extra support.

"If I'm remembered 100 years from now, I hope it will be not for looks, but for books." — Dolly Parton 💖

Dolly Parton gave the world so much music, joy, and warmth, and through her Imagination Library, she put millions of books directly into the hands of children. 📚

At the Samaritan Center, we share her passion for growing young readers:
- Take a book or leave a book at our Little Free Library anytime!
- Visit us to learn how your child (ages 0-5) can get a FREE book mailed to your door each month through Dolly's Imagination Library.

Help us continue her mission of spreading love and literacy right here in our community. 📖

For years, Carl has been a faithful, reassuring presence in the Samaritan Center lobby, privately praying over every person who walks through our doors and sharing health information about the importance of drinking water 💙

Ever since serving as a medic in the Korean War over 70 years ago, Carl’s life has been guided by faith and a calling to care for others. Whether he’s offering helpful health advice or watching kids excitedly head into our toy store, his heart for our community shines through everything he does.

With his 97th birthday coming up this October, Carl will soon be taking a well-deserved rest and wrapping up his time in our lobby. Though he always points the grace and glory to God, we want to make sure Carl knows just how deeply loved he is!

Be sure to stop by the Samaritan Center soon to wish Carl well and thank him for his years of dedication and prayer. 🙏💙

Sometimes the smallest gifts carry the biggest impact. ❤️

We received a truly special donation this week of handmade pocket prayer quilts, made with love by an anonymous donor. Each quilt comes with a unique prayer, designed to fit right in a pocket as a message of hope.

As we pass these along to our clients navigating hard times, our hope is that each quilt serves as a gentle comfort and a reminder that they are seen by God, valued, and lifted up in prayer by their community.

"Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." — 1 Peter 5:7 ✝

Thank you to our generous donor for sharing your God-given talents to bring light and encouragement to our neighbors!
