Sometimes, making a difference starts with giving someone a chance to play.

For Jeb Bennett, founder of Grateful Sports, the mission is about more than bats, balls, gloves, and cleats.

It’s about opportunity.

The chance for a child to join a team. To discover a new passion. To build confidence, make friends, and experience the lessons that come from being part of something bigger than themselves.

Through Grateful Sports, Jeb is helping remove one of the barriers that keeps young athletes on the sidelines: the cost of equipment.

With donated sports gear and the generosity of our community, equipment that one family has outgrown can become another child’s opportunity.

And that’s what makes this story worth sharing.

Because strong communities aren’t built by people who simply notice a need. They’re built by neighbors who choose to do something about it.

Grateful for the opportunity to work with Girl Scout Troop 40207!

They reached out to me about hosting an equipment drive. I said of course, y’all are more than welcome to do that. What a job they did by taking in equipment and raised over $200 for Grateful Sports!

Grateful for the opportunity to be the nonprofit spotlight in the September issue of Stroll!!

Sometimes the only thing standing between a child and the field is the cost of the gear.

That’s where Grateful Sports steps in.

By collecting new and gently used sports equipment and placing it directly into the hands of young athletes who need it, the organization is helping more kids experience everything sports can offer — confidence, friendship, discipline, movement, and belonging.

A glove.
A pair of cleats.
A helmet.

Small things that can open a very big door.

Read September’s Making a Difference feature in Stroll The Hamptons and meet the local organization working to make sure that when a child asks, “Can I play?” the answer can be yes.

That old baseball glove.
Those cleats your kids outgrew.
