Heat-related illness can happen inside or outside in as little as 10 to 15 minutes.

It’s important to know the difference between heat exhaustion, which is treatable by finding a cooler location and drinking water, and heat stroke, which requires a call to 911 for emergency medical attention.

On July 1, 2026, the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) started offering new nutrition benefits to support members who are managing certain health conditions and may have limited access to healthy food.

These nutrition benefits are available for OHP members with specific needs, so not all members will qualify.

Eligibility varies by benefit. Members can apply through their coordinated care organization (CCO) or open card provider, who will help determine eligibility.

If you’re not eligible, you can still find programs and support on the Oregon Department of Human Services’ Food Resources in Oregon web page: https://www.oregon.gov/odhs/food/pages/default.aspx

OHA is reporting two Oregon residents who developed Cyclospora infections that may be linked to the ongoing multistate cyclosporiasis outbreak.

Both individuals traveled to other states involved in the recent nationwide recall of pre-shredded iceberg lettuce associated with the outbreak.

The risk in Oregon continues to be low because the infection isn’t spread between people and the iceberg lettuce has been recalled.

Cyclosporiasis is a parasitic infection that often spreads from contaminated water or food. People who experience symptoms of cyclosporiasis should stay hydrated and contact a health care provider right away.
