Meet CAG Executive Director Craig Kessler.

Craig brings more than 30 years of experience serving the golf community, including his longtime role as Director of Public Affairs at the Southern California Golf Association.

Throughout his career, Craig has been a leading advocate for the game of golf, public course access, and the long-term sustainability of golf facilities and communities across California.

His leadership, experience, and commitment to advocacy continue to strengthen the mission of the California Alliance for Golf.

BILL STATUS: AB 1954, the Protecting Access to Reservations (PAR) Act.

Sponsored by CAG and authored by Assemblymember Chris Ward (D-San Diego), the PAR Act protects affordable, equitable access to tee times at California's publicly owned golf courses — the 23 percent of the state's courses owned and operated by public agencies.

Progress to date, each vote unanimous:
— Two Assembly policy committees
— Assembly Appropriations
— Assembly floor
— Two Senate policy committees
— Senate Appropriations

Remaining steps: Senate floor vote and the Governor's signature.

Supporters include the County of Los Angeles, the City of Los Angeles, the City of San Diego, the League of California Cities, and the Association of California Counties.

The Bureau of Reclamation has released the Final Environmental Impact Statement outlining an adaptive decision framework for Post-2026 Operational Guidelines and Strategies for Lake Powell and Lake Mead. The framework will guide operating decisions over the next 10 years to ensure reliable operations and the flexibility to respond to changing conditions and preserves the opportunity for the Basin to continue working towards consensus agreements

The framework will be used to develop operating guidelines for Lake Powell and Lake Mead in anticipated two-year intervals. This adaptive approach provides a transparent process for making operational decisions and allows Reclamation the flexibility to use the best available information when responding to hydrological conditions.
