Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars

Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars® was established in 1991 to help students invest in their future. An access code is no longer required.

Established to encourage and support educational success of residents of the West Valley of San Bernardino County, ESF assists students in achieving their educational goals and dreams by providing financial aid and academic support. Since its beginning, the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars has awarded over $500,000 in scholarships ranging from $500 to $6,000. With the commitm

ent of community and business leaders in addition to corporate sponsors, we have provided scholarships to more than 250 local students. Most scholarship recipients have gone on to complete a 2 or 4 year degree program. History:
"Esperanza" in Spanish means "hope". Esperanza is our organization's spirit and driving force. It is also the name of the mother of one of the ESF founders, who attributes his success to her strong backing and parental guidance in his early educational development. She represents the aspirations of great numbers of parents for their children's success. Online Scholarship Application:
We are accepting applications from Monday February 8th, 2016, until the deadline which will be on Tuesday, March 7th, 2016. Compared to the previous years, the online application process has changed significantly. Students will be required to create a profile with Dollars for Scholars before they apply to our scholarship. Creating a profile is free and will allow them to be matched with different scholarships that they qualify for based on the information they provide. Students can create their Dollars for Scholars profile through our new website: esperanza.dollarsforscholars.org. Please advise students to get started with this process as soon as possible given that creating a profile is a lengthy process, and they may be eligible for several scholarships with different requirements and deadlines. Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars Board Members D’Andre Lampkin and Lydia Roman proudly represented their communities at this year’s California League of Cities Conference.

While attending in their respective city and regional leadership roles, their presence reflected something greater: the depth of civic engagement that defines our Board. Our members aren’t just advocates for education; they are public servants dedicated to improving lives and meeting the needs of the communities they serve every day.

✨ Today, the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars held our Annual Board Retreat; a day of reflection, planning, and inspiration. Hosted by the D'Andre D. Lampkin Foundation and guided by facilitator Roy Juarez Jr, our discussions focused on goals for the 2026 season, ways to strengthen Board support, how best to serve our scholars and alumni, and opportunities for collaboration with like-minded organizations.

Both of our organizations share one mission: empowering individuals to create opportunities for themselves and their communities. Together, we believe that investing in people means investing in a brighter future. 🌟📚

Lorena Corona, the dynamic President and host of the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars Awards Ceremony, is an inspiring advocate for educational opportunities. Her journey from Jalisco, Mexico to California is a testament to her unwavering determination and passion for learning. Arriving in California without English proficiency, she embarked on her educational journey at the San Bernardino Adult School before transferring to Chaffey Community College to further her language skills. In an impressive display of dedication, Lorena earned five Associate Degrees in just five years and was elected as President of Student Trustee for two consecutive terms. Her academic journey did not stop there; from 2005 to 2010, she attended Harvard University, where she achieved both a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree. Lorena's life story is a powerful example of resilience and commitment to education, and she continues to inspire others through her leadership and advocacy.
